It is still baffling that Bud was a dead man walking in Milwaukee the year the Suns faced them in the finals, and winning it all is the only thing that bought him more time there. I know they felt the franchise was underachieving with him, but I never thought he was the problem. And Milwaukee still can't get the coaching situation right; the buffoonery that occurred there this season is even more baffling than the previous Budenholzer situation.

I think he is a good coach, and this is probably the best option for this Suns team. I hope he doesn't take the fall if/when this team fails to deliver. I think he could have some value once we're done with the Durant-Beal era.
Yeah, id really like to give him a long term shot, even if the big 3 doesn't work, he's a good coach, I'm tired of the turnover, also not really sure they could do better.
I agree with you guys and at 54, he's got a lot of years of coaching ahead. I'd love to see him become our next MacLeod/Fitzsimmons.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I also hope he's around for a long time.

Fun fact. I was born in Winslow, AZ, the closest town to Holbrook, and my parents moved to Holbrook for a year before my dad said "I need a better life for my family" and moved us to Phoenix so he could become a lineman.
Did he play for the Cardinals?
Lol. APS. Power lines 🤣🤣

Just like you were "proud" of the 49-win season your awesome roster delivered?
What do you / others expect? "I screwed up. I mistakenly said I was proud of our 49 win season when I truly wasn't". It's a VERY publicly facing social media account. In most scenarios, I expect the owner to present the fanbase with optimism, even when he surely was beyond disappointed with the season of basketball we played. The criticism I see him getting regarding his comments around this hire and the optimism he's presenting it with are beyond ridiculous to me.

It does come across as blind optimism sometimes; sure we got swept in first round and our ageing injury-prone big three don’t fit together well and will be a year older next season, and we have no real means to dramatically improve around them, but we are totally a title contender.

When you look at the gap we need to make up and the means the teams above us have to improve (either within or with draft picks etc) that’s hard to see.

I don't even look at it as blind optimism; it's arrogance and self-promotion.

Again, what's the alternative? Just don't bother Tweeting?

So you're selling us that the only possible message a billionaire can put out with a professional marketing and social media team is that he is proud of the underperforming product he put together?

All I hear is criticism without alternative. Again, what do you want him to say? And you can bet your ass that behind the scenes he was probably critical as all hell with very profane language about the performance of the team. You surely are aware of his leaked comments about United Wholesale Mortgage vs Rocket Mortgage. He's competitive as hell. I'm optimistic he's going to do all in his power to get the Suns a championship. You can beg to differ based on his Tweets and his first full season as owner. He has much to learn and I'm sure he will. You don't succeed the way he has by being stubborn and a fool.

Want to go back to Sarver? Get rid of the G-League, cut corners, treat your employees like shit, pinch pennies, be a general POS? But hey, Ishbia "mortgaged the future" and makes comments around being proud of the team, publicly. Guy sucks and should get bent.

Ishbia is no Sarver. He’s also no Colangelo. We’ll have to settle for something in between.

Agreed. I'd argue you can name any owner and they all have skeletons. That's what comes with becoming wealthy enough to own a professional sports team. They all have a degree of arrogance and a bit of self-promotion. You want fans in the seats and merchandise out the door.

As far as an alternative message after the season, I would think Ishbia could have acknowledged the Suns didn’t meet the lofty goals they set themselves (championship) and pledge to work hard to get better next season.
If you are talking about after the regular season, before the playoffs then less talk of pride, more talk of ‘new season starts now’.

Speaking of Sarver, you heard how badly Bud wanted to coach the Suns. Had to be Sarver that ruined it for him in the previous coaching interviews. Knowing Sarver, he probably wanted a hometown discount to hire Bud. Remember when Bud took himself out of the running? That had Sarver's fingerprints all over it.

Anybody else notice that one of the first things Bud did was to point out that James Jones built this roster?

And that he said to win you have to have unity and input from coaches, management, and ownership. Bud said that the Suns have a chance to have that unity.

My man is already subtly lobbying for roster changes.

I'd rather play random than the other team knowing every time down the floor we're just going to iso one of the big three.

IDK, Bud. They sure as hell looked to be "playing random" a whole lot of this past season. I hope you have a better plan.

Huh? You watched a different Phoenix Suns team than me. The ones I watched were nothing but predictable.

I guess I don't know what "playing random" means then.
