Pecker - Former National Enquirer publisher David Pecker said he met with Trump and Cohen to discuss how he could use his tabloid to help Trump win the White House. Pecker testified that he vowed to identify negative stories about Trump’s conduct with women so he could buy the stories and then not publish them.
Pecker told jurors he went on to pay $30,000 to a doorman who claimed to know Trump had a child with a mistress, and $150,000 to former Playboy model Karen McDougal to keep her from going public about her affair with Trump. But when Pecker learned about Daniels, he told the jury he resisted pressure by Cohen to buy her story.
“I said, ‘I am not purchasing the story,”’ Pecker said. “I am not going to be involved with a porn star. I am not a bank,” and after “paying out the doorman and paying out Karen McDougal, we’re not paying anymore.”
Pecker’s refusal ultimately forced Cohen to personally pay $130,000 to Daniels. Trump’s reimbursement to Cohen, in monthly installments throughout 2017, are at the center of the case. Trump’s business records falsely say the checks were for legal services Cohen didn’t actually provide, Bragg says.
Multiple witnesses undercut Trump’s suggestion that he only paid the hush money to Daniels to protect his wife from being hurt by news of the alleged affair.
“While he might have had that motivation, it is clear through Hope Hicks’ testimony, and now Michael Cohen’s testimony, that he was trying to affect the election by limiting the damage such a story could inflict on his campaign,” the professor said.
“I think the jury could believe that Trump had both motivations in mind, but if he had any motivation to defraud the election laws, the element is proved.”

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
Was there any evidence presented by the prosecution that Trump KNEW about the Stormy Daniels payments or authorized anyone to repay Cohen for them? The only evidence is from Cohen himself, who also has admitted to false billing and stealing from Trump Org. NO OTHER WITNESSES or EVIDENCE put's Trump knowing about the agreement, authorizing payments, authorizing ledger details, etc. None. Not one.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
We can argue this all day. It doesn’t matter. Both sides have rested their cases. The jury will decide after final arguments. That gives Trump enough time to ask the judge to throw out the case 4-5 more times.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
You're right. It's up to the jury, who probably made up their mind before the trial started.

I unless he wins. Then they were fine upstanding citizens who obviously made the right decision. If he loses, they were all Dems planted by Joe. If Trump wins the election is was because America made the right decision. If he loses it’s because the Dems cheated and stole the election again.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
They are not mutually exclusive, and two things could be true at the same time. He could be aquitted, and they could have had their minds made up before the trial. He could also win, despite cheating and attempted steal.Nodack wrote: ↑Tue May 21, 2024 1:35 pmI unless he wins. Then they were fine upstanding citizens who obviously made the right decision. Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
They found even more classified docs.
Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
As for the Bragg case, let’s pretend for a minute that Cohen billed Trump Org and Trump Org paid him with Trump Org checks and then went on to log those payments in the Trump Org ledger. ALL business records. Let’s even say that they should have logged the expenses as “campaign contributions”. Did Bragg introduce a single piece of evidence that showed Trump was responsible? That he directed anyone to falsify business records? A single witness who said “I wanted to mark the ledger as campaign expenses but Donald said NO, mark it as legal expenses!” No. He didn’t. Even in that perfect scenario for Bragg, he couldn’t even show Donald was involved AT ALL.
This is another example of a sham trial, by a corrupt & clearly conflicted judge with a probable stacked bias jury. But, there is no lawfare. GMAFB.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
In2 posted some tweets of conservative people upset about various aspects of the classified docs search and seizure, including the authorization for the use of "deadly force." But such authorization is standard operating procedure, and the agency went out of its way to avoid needing to use any force or appear to be threatening. As usual this is a bunch of conservative social media people trying to fool and panic their followers.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
I realize that you think this was standard procedure, but it's actually not. Nothing about this was standard procedure. They were also authorized to engage the Secret Service. That is clearly not "standard procedure". There were internal disputes over doing this in the first place, where the FBI didn't want to, but ultimately the Prosecution won out. The WH was hoping to catch Trump unaware and there, so that they could engage and hopefully kill Trump. These people are sick individuals. I also posted that it was set up, where the NARA knew that some of the classified docs were in their care, and shipped them to Mar-a-Lago just before the raid.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Wed May 22, 2024 7:50 amIn2 posted some tweets of conservative people upset about various aspects of the classified docs search and seizure, including the authorization for the use of "deadly force." It's not a "conspiracy theory", if look at the facts involved and use basic logic, it certainly seems to have a basis in a logical conclusion with intent.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
Nobody tried to kill Trump. You're being silly. Not bothering to read your zero-source tweets from "DC_Draino", Dan Bongino, and other great luminary tweeters.
Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
I'm not being silly at all. You are telling me that no one thought about the ramifications of doing an early morning surprise raid of the home of a former President, along with the leading candidate and political opponent of the current President, protected by Secret Service detail with a 'Use of Force' Ops plan? The FBI didn't even use the FBI staff in Palm Beach, and instead used FBI staff from DC in the raid. It obviously wasn't just "standard ops". Marrick Garland personally approved it. How do I know that? Because he said it.
They also authorized the use of searching all rooms, even those occupied by guests, and the use of lock picks to do it. Has their ever been a case where law enforcement has accidentally killed innocent people not involved in anything before during these type of "standard ops"? What if the minor, Barron Trump, got shot in his home? There is nothing "silly" about armed agents from DC involved in this. Here's another question, Why is everyone so shady about this raid?

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
If we are being honest, and this was Trump doing this to Biden, with orders to shoot to kill *if necessary, would you be snoozing? Or would you call Trump a authoritarian dictator, just hoping to "accidentally" end Biden's life? Time to be introspective and honest.

Re: DONALD TRUMP INDICTED
Unibomber or Trump? Which one should be raided? Merrick Garland has to get into Melania's panty drawer with a show of force, but didn't want to go to the unibomber's house. Clowns.
