I don't think the hits on here were too bad. Definitely fouls, maybe flagrant. But it's clear from the various postgame interviews that they really dislike her and want to smack her around a bit to send a message. I just thought it was weird. I don't think she needs to be "protected" per se, but I just think it's weird to be so mad at a fellow player who is probably literally saving your league by bringing in so many new fans.

Well, I'm sure there's a lot of jealousy involved, and also probably the feeling that she hasn't proven anything or "paid her dues" yet.

But it's not really that unusual to see if physical play will bother a finesse player. Cedrtainly this instance doesn't resemble a normal basketball play in any way so it probably qualifies as a flagrant foul, but It's not like she threw a shoulder or elbow into her.

It’s ridiculous. I think it comes down to pure jealousy. The penalty for that needs to be very harsh to send a message that garbage won’t be tolerated. Suspend her 10 or 20 games and see how often it happens in the future. Whether they like it or not Caitlin Clark is their cash cow and she has to be protected.
They should probably ask for the death penalty too for an egregious attack like that.

Was there a play beforehand that could made that a retaliatory act? We've seen countless NBA plays where a guy feels like he was hit on a previous possession and reacts like that with words or a hard foul. I didn't think that was such an egregious hit and without seeing the previous few plays it could be easy to take that one foul out of context.

My bad. I thought the green sarcasm font would imply that I thought that the thought of a 10 to 20 suspension was draconian.

Let me just state it outright then. Considering this any more than just a flagrant one is a ridiculous overreaction.

Lol, I knew it was sarcasm from the green font and over the top rhetoric. I thought it was funny, and find the jealousy by other players extremely shortsighted by them. Cutting their nose off to spite their face.

It's not unlike the jealousy Jordan was subject to when they froze him out at the All-Star Game.

Of course Clark is no Jordan, and while she is attracting a lot of new fans to the WNBA, those fans have a learning curve that they need to go through.

The league did upgrade the foul to flagrant 1, which I think was fair. But it was not something so egregious that it demanded a fine or suspension.

IMO it's a lot of overreaction about the Clark. WNBA players are just as competitive as any other pro athletes, so it shouldn't surprise us that they are giving it to the new kid on the block. Physical play and challenging young stars aren't new to the WNBA, we just haven't seen this before because we weren't watching,

I think Redick will be a good coach, but I don't know if I like the fit with the current Lakers and Lebron, who is the same age (39) as Redick himself.

Yeah, bad fit. LeBron should come here for the minimum.

I don't want Hurley to be the coach of the Lakers. He was a guy that I wanted the Suns to hire. I'm happy with Bud, but Hurley was my first choice.

No disrespect to Bud, but GDWTF I was pining for Dan Hurley like two months ago.

Now I’m stuck hoping to be wrong about him.
