Back to JJ/Borrego, Lakers are a mess.

Aside from the money, it was no-win for him. High pressure job in the spotlight with an older LBJ. I think he'll make the jump at some point but this job wasn't it.

Now JJ Redick looks like a consolation prize.

Not great for LA that this all unfolded in the media for everyone to see

It does kind of feel like this whole Laker drama was just to get more money from UConn haha

Kevon Looney getting released. He’d probably beat out Nurk for starting role if he took a minimum. Dude can defend and rebound.

I used to hate how he out hustled Ay***.
But he’d screen well and roll and finish well here.

I'd love Looney. But he could probably get more money (and a promise of a starting role) somewhere else. Knowing our luck he'll go to a conference rival.

Id definitely give him the starting job and flip Nurks money elsewhere

Nurks would be an excellent backup center. A little on the expensive side, but if you’re paying minimum to the starter, you can do that.

I worry about his efficacy in the playoffs, having 2 non shooters for Buds system seems scary, but then what options are out there any way

Didn’t Looney suck last year tho? He was barely in the warriors rotation by the end of the year.

Yeah, some crazy Looney takes in here. He's not been better than Nurkic and wouldn't be an upgrade next season.

Now it's a different conversation if we're talking about cap value based production, but that would also depend on how they manage to further upgrade the position.

I love Nurk but Looney is a better fit and matchup in the playoffs due to his switch ability, he stays on the floor, is still a top screen-assist ratio big, excellent rebounder, big energy player, can finish off a screen and roll, and knows playoffs basketball. He just doesn’t block a ton of shots, or shoot or play above the rim. If he were a starting center with the Suns he’d have more minutes and better numbers. GSW just had a shit year and another young big with better potential and shot blocking ability.

I like Looney as a hustle, change of pace big off the bench and spot starter. He'd give us a different look from Nurk and we'd be wise to look for a solid backup who can start if needed. Probably taking a chance expecting 70+ games from Nurk again.
