Robinson has the kind of injuries you worry about for an athletic bigman his size. Knicks fans love him but also are getting to the point where they know they can't trust him to stay on the court.

RIP The Logo
Jerry West was an All-American forward at West Virginia, playing on the 1960 Gold Medal Olympic Team and then joined the Los Angeles Lakers as a player in their first year on the West Coast.

West and Oscar Robertson were the two premiere guards in the league in the 1960s, and West seemed to be fated to be a player who would play in multiple Finals only to be shut out when it comes to winning a championship (like his teammate, Elgin Baylor). But in 1972, in his 8th visit to the Finals, West finally got his ring (teaming with fellow Hall of Famers Wilt Chamberlain and Gail Goodrich) as a player on what was considered, at that time, to be the greatest single-season team in league history.

West retired abruptly during the 1974 preseason due to rift between he and Lakers owner Jack Kent Cooke when West asked to have his contract renegotiated. But, oddly enough, West returned to the team in 1976 to become their head coach, spending three years in that role, compiling a 145-101 record.

In 1982 West took over as General Manager of the Lakers, replacing Bill Sharman, who had built the Showtime Lakers into perennial contenders. West found ways to continually acquire talent, adding James Worthy, Byron Scott, A.C. Green and Vlade Divac, and then rebulding the team around Shaquille O'Neal and Kobe Bryant.

After a power struggle with Lakers coach Phil Jackson, West left the team in 1999 and then spent 2002-2007 as the General Manager of the Memphis Grizzlies, 2011-17 as Executive Board Member for the Golden State Warriors and 2017-24 as an Executive Board Member and Consultant for the Los Angeles Clippers.

When I was a kid I was a big Wilt Chamberlain fan and folowed the Lakers in their 1971-72 championship season. My dad, who was from West Viginia got me a Jerry West poster, which was the only sports poster on my wall. West was a great shooter and defender and also led the league in assists in their championship season. West always seemed to be playing injured, usually with one of his many broken noses or with one of his extremities wrapped in an elastic bandage.

In my opinion West was probably the second-best shooting guard in NBA history behind Jordan. He was self-critical and intense, and I can just picture him as a Lakers executive watching the big games from the tunnel, where he could deal with the tension with as much solitude as he could find.

Nurk was in the same boat when we acquired him…he did manage to stay on the court last year.
My opinion has become more favorable of Robinson recently.

I still have all the same concerns, but he's 3 years younger and on a declining salary for the next two seasons. I doubt the Knicks would consider a swap, but I think it would be a worthy risk for the Suns.

It was a Bobby Marks tweet but he deleted it. Had key dates for things like free agency once the Finals are over.

Knowing Bobby Marks, there was probably a mistake with one of the dates.

Most admirable thing about him is that he makes me feel like I could somehow work in a front office one day if I made an honest effort of it.

I went and looked and did see he has a whole ESPN+ article posted about all non-playoff teams offseason moves possibilities. And never too late to change careers, FF. We'd all love to have an insider in the NBA. Of course, you wouldn't be able to tell us anything. Just saw yesterday that Colonel Sanders didn't start his chicken business until 67 years old or something crazy like that.

Not sure what the market would be for Stix should he opt out. He never really broke out in Indy but had a decent season mostly as a bench player, then was out of the playoff rotation. Still an intriguing talent and would fit a need for us, on paper at least, as a backup athletic stretch big. We only have minimum deals to hand out tho so the odds he opts out of $5mil for a minimum contract are pretty slim.

Too bad we would never draft a guy like that. Could have helped this roster.

ETA: My bet would be he'd still be on the roster if Ishbia had been owner at the time. Probably a cost cutting move by $arver.

Nah, Jones wanted to bring back Torrey Craig,

Stix's number really haven't changed since he went to Indiana with the exception of his fg% going up last year. If that's growth, then he has become a good role player. If it's a fluke, then he still sin't anything special.

They went way up last year…even if they drop a bit, he’s still a solid bench big.
