Suns won't trade Durant, at least not now. It would be too large an admission of failure, an embarrassment for the new owner. Maybe if we suck next season they'd do something by the trade deadline or next offseason.

Id 100% trade Durant for Whitmore and a buncha picks.

I really don't understand why this would be better. Booker and KD together at least give the Suns a chance at contending. Cam Whitmore and magic beans turns the Suns into a middling team at best with an antsy star who'd be wasting his prime.

If Booker or Beal sustain a serious injury sometime in the next year, then I could understand this type of move.

I don't believe that this group will win anything, I'd also trade Booker instead of KD for the same package but with FVV involved too to shore up the PG spot.

I'm not saying this is prudent or even well thought out, but this team is garbage to watch, not fun to root for and it's future isn't exactly looking great. It's just the first step of many.

Last year's team wasn't fun to watch.

You've already decided the next version won't be any more entertaining or successful based on...?

Perhaps the fact that it will likely have nearly an identical roster? I’m not looking forward to watching this same team again, either, simply because there’s a new coach. Maybe if we traded Nurkic… :P

I'm not promising they'll be significantly closer to winning a title next year, but I'm confident they'll be more enjoyable to watch as long as the roster has a bit more balance and isn't missing one of KD/Booker/Beal for half of the season.

Of course it could go the other way and be the same or worse as last season, in which case you guys would probably get your wish of blowing it up and going back to being the irrelevant doormat of the league.

I would trade KD to Houston, but not for Whitmore and picks…I’d want Jabari Smith Jr or Amen Thompson and picks(3rd overall plus our picks back).

I don’t think it’s anyone’s “wish” to blow it up…. It’s just where we are and how we have exasperated all of our options to improve any further.

Where there's smoke there's fire. Wouldn't surprise me to see a blockbuster tonight/tomorrow. Think there's a connection with Ime from their time at the Nets, probably wants to play for Ime over Bud (just my opinion). Plus he's snake who would jump ship to a better opportunity without blinking.

Stephen A. Smith lying on First Take saying "the Suns want out of Kevin Durant."

I'm just not buying that.

I think the only way the Suns would do it is if they also got a prospect that made the trade interesting from a talent perspective. If it's just KD for a bucket of picks and cap relief, that might be a good trade to us eggheads, but the FO won't be able to spin that as anything other than giving up / rebuilding.

But what would Houston be willing to give us? Probably not any of their most interesting players (like Sengun) because they're trying to win with KD. Maybe Jalen Green, but he's redundant with Booker/Beal and they probably want to keep him since he ended last season so strong.

I think the best we could hope for would be FVV + (young player) + >= 3 1st rounders for KD. In reality Houston probably wants us to take a Boban / Jock Landale / Jeff Green puu puu platter or something.

Can one of those 1st rounders be #3 this year?
