More like Kevon Looney, who I know some people seem to really like.
I’ll take it.. especially since he’d be a more athletic Looney

I meant Looney at the same age. I definitely don’t think Ighodaro will be as impactful next season as Looney has been recently.

Oh I figured as much, but if he turns into a Looney level player with a little extra juice at the rim, I think we’ve got a good rotation player.

Ah then maybe we have different memories of Looney’s young athleticism.

He’s was the type that started as a guard but had a huge late growth spurt. That’s a big reason for his better than average guard skills and footwork compared to his positional peers.

Perhaps…I don’t remember him being a vertical athlete, but maybe I’m just remembering older Looney

Has anyone went and compared Bridges and Cam Johnson? Old draftees with similar profiles and stats... I am intrigued.

Looks like similar number of attempts…Cam shot 46% from 3, 41% for Bridges…Cam averaged more points/reb/ast than Bridges. Measurements are almost identical…6’7(barefoot) 206 pounds with a 6’10 wingspan for Cam…Jalen is 6’6.75(barefoot) 213 pounds with a 6’10 wingspan. Cam tested better in lane agility and vertical leap…Bridges was faster in the sprint.

Pretty comparable tbh

If it becomes clear that he is a real player early on, Can suns just sign his deal from 2 way to a real contract?

I believe you have to have an open roster spot. Teams are allotted 15 players with 13 active and an additional pair of 2-way players. To go from 2-way to roster a team can have no more than 14 at the time.
Go Suns!

Ya you need the roster spot, but no reason you can’t cut/trade a player to create it…2-way deals have built in provisions that can convert them to regular contracts

Sam Vecenie gives his draft grade
Phoenix Suns
• Acquired Ryan Dunn (No. 28), No. 56 and two future second-round picks for No. 22
• Traded a future second to New York for No. 51; Then, traded No. 51 and No. 56 back to New York for No. 40
• Selected Oso Ighodaro (No. 40)

The Suns accomplished their goals this week. The thing league sources told The Athletic about the Suns entering the week was to expect them to trade back in order to accumulate more pick assets for future flexibility. As of the start of the week, the team only had one second round pick that it could trade. Now though, it has two more future seconds, in addition to two players that I like for their organization.

Let’s start with Dunn, the team’s first round pick it acquired after trading down with Denver. Dunn is one of the best defensive prospects I’ve evaluated. He’s that good. He’s a true defensive playmaker who flies around the court and wreaks havoc with his immense athleticism and length, forcing turnovers all over. He’s also one of the worst offensive prospects in the first round that I’ve seen in the last 10 years. He looked quite uncomfortable with the ball by the end of the season for Virginia, and hasn’t come close to making 3s yet in his collegiate career. The good news? Phoenix has enough offense. They need defenders. Dunn should be able to become more of a screen-and-roll threat around Kevin Durant, Devin Booker and Bradley Beal. As long as plays with players who can shoot, I’d expect Dunn to play quite a bit this season. This is about as good a landing spot for him as he could have expected.

Then, the team took one of my favorite players to watch in college basketball the last two years in Arizona-native Oso Ighodaro. The Marquette big man is one of the best passing bigs in this class, a sharp weapon in dribble handoffs and ball-screens who is excellent at screening, re-screening and creating just those little edges for his man. He’s also a great finisher at the rim with real vertical pop, and he has a nice little two-foot, jump-stop floater game. On defense, Ighodaro is versatile in ball-screen coverages in that you can switch him on occasion and also use his mobility to play at the level or even at times blitz. He needs to get better around the rim as a rebounder and rim protector. I worry some of the big post centers in the West could cause him some issues.
This is more depth and more assets than the Suns had when they entered the week. They accomplished their goals. They’re better than they were when they started the week.

Grade: B

Ryan Dunn already in the lab
This is great, and it's all you can ask of him. Lock yourself in the gym, work with the shooting coaches, and just practice practice practice.

Probably drinking the kool aid too much but I think Jalen Bridges will be a rotation player for us. Not playoff rotation but as a 9th or 10th man during the regular, I think so. Plays good defense, good 3pt shooter, is 6’9”, sounds like someone who can play 10-15mins a game to me.

I don't think he's a very good defender, probably passable at best but he's got a quick shot that he should be able to get off over anyone. I wish there was a way to combine Dunn and Bridges into one player 😂
