We can sign Hayward and go for that most “if he can healthy” team as ‘Bone suggested.

Probably Okogie, right?

Probably. And I’m good with it. I like the dude. I think we are going to be much better defensively. I sure hope so anyway.

I'm good with it too, and I hope they will be better defensively too. It seems like they will be. It feels like the team did the best that we could realistically expect in FA and the draft. Ready for the season.

I still think they need a bigger wing that can shoot, Okogie serves no purpose after adding Dunn.

Okogie needs to change his mindset about working on his shot. If he and Dunn are determined to become knockdown shooters, everything could change. It just never felt like Okogie thought he needed to get better at it, and he was content with his current ability.

We do seem like we'll be better defensively. But one thing I can't shake is, we have exactly the same starting 5 as last year. How much better defensively can we be, really, when our starting / closing 5 will be exactly the same? That starting 5 has arguably four minus-defenders on it (all but KD). We often fell behind in 1st quarters last season. Those were mostly starter minutes. Can we really make a big leap defensively with guys who will play at most 10-15 minutes a game?

To me the big hope will be continuity + Coach Bud. I hope he can get the guys on the same page defensively and make us better on that end. If he can do that, plus retain an efficient offense, we have a great chance to be better next year.

Wouldn't the starting 5 have a bad +/- if they consistently had bad first quarters?

Vogel's defensive system was shit. I think our starters will defend better if we move back to a system similar to Monty's.

Right, if I remember right, our starting lineup had our best +/-.

We actually had the 13th ranked defense last year…problem was our offense was only 9th

Our problem wasn’t talent. It was leadership and drive. The team never bonded, the coach didn’t inspire. Everything was off. We need our stars to do better. We the need the coaches to instill confidence in the role players and get them to over perform. The most important thing though is Booker needs to be better than he was last year.

I wonder if 36 remain unbothered.

I think that response is a little over the top. Bud likes the 3. Lee can shoot the 3 at a good percentage clip. Could be a good fit.

I don't think Lee is exactly what we need, but, he does have an elite skill (shooting), so he could be useful for us.
