I don’t like the fit in Sacramento, but Derozan is quite a bit better than Barnes
As a shot creator, sure. Is that what Sacramento needs? Shooting wise Derozan shoots twice as much a game but isn't better percentage wise & still Barnes shoots twice as many 3's. Iono, just don't see it.
Ya it’s not a great fit, but it’s a talent upgrade…Sacramento is lacking in talent…gotta see if they can make it work now.

The Kings roster is starting to look like just a bunch of guys thrown together. Not unlike our team last year or the previous Bulls team with Lavine, DeRozan and Vuc. Not sure the talent meshes, spacing could be weird and there's not a lot of defense. DD is a shotmaker for sure, but if he's your go-to? Fox needs to play fast, Sabonis is better in the halfcourt but doesn't shoot 3s or defend the rim. Hard to see the plan there.

I agree that they seem to have some similar flaws to the recent Suns:

- too much midrange/interior game
- not enough 3-point shooting
- questionable defense in their starting lineup

They do have some advantages compared to our core, though:

- better playmaking due to their PG and C being better facilitators than ours
- less $ tied up by top 3: they nabbed their third guy, DeRozan, on ~ $20m/year; that's basically Nurkic money, rather than $50m/year like we paid for Beal; so they should have more flexibility to fill out their roster
- didn't give away a decade's worth of picks to put their lineup together (!!!)

I don't think they are contenders but I think the assets they have acquired at the prices they've paid have been solid moves.

Obviously still time to go, but here’s my current west tiers for next season:

Tier 1: Favorites
1. OKC Thunder

Tier 2: Contenders

3. Minnesota Timberwolves
4. Dallas Mavericks

Tier 3: Good Teams
5. New Orleans Pelicans
6. Phoenix Suns
7. LA Clippers
8. Golden State Warriors

Tier 4: Unknown upside teams
9. Memphis Grizzlies
10. Houston Rockets

Tier 5 Mid
11. Sacramento Kings
12. Los Angeles Lakers

Tier 6: Surprise
13. San Antonio Spurs

Tier 7: Tank
14. Utah Jazz
15. Portland Trailblazers

Nice list. I mostly agree with the general groups. Some thoughts of my own:

- I think the Nuggets will drop a bit next year. I don't like losing KCP for them.

- I don't like the Pelicans as much as you do. I would put them in Tier 4.

- I don't like the Clippers this upcoming year. I would put them in Tier 5.

- I don't like the direction the Warriors are going. I would put them down in Tier 5. They might even have a Curry injury next year (he's getting old), which would put them way down near the bottom.

- I think I like the Spurs more than the Lakers.

I think for the most part it’s anyone’s game in the west…OKC is the only team I feel very confident about. I’m kind of assuming healthy seasons for everyone…which won’t happen…but I like what the Clippers and Warriors did(Warriors more than Clippers). Memphis could be the 2 seed for all I know.

Did Redick help or hurt their rankings?

I really have no clue what to expect with Reddick…he didn’t really impact my ranking…just that they did almost nothing in free agency

Bronny shot like 20% in his first game and already has a nagging injury. Uh oh.

Might be load management or they know what he is and he's already on the team so they're holding him out to give other guys a look. You never know with SL sometimes.

Everyone's favorite rookie Bronny is currently playing on ESPN.

Where’s the hate for Dalton Knecht? He’s been worse than Bronny and was their 1st round pick…Can’t we just wait before we judge these guys? Surely suns fans know that scouting is an imperfect science…none of us know if Bronny will be good or not…why not just let him play and then decide?

I don't think Bronny is going to be a great NBA player. But at least you gotta admit that he's in a great situation. He's on a team that supports him and his dad, he'll probably get some real minutes, he'll get time working with the coaches there to improve, he'll have fan support, etc. Could be worse. If he is destined to succeed in the NBA, he'll do it there.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

I used to practice the JR Rider shot in my driveway. It was a great HORSE shot.
