2024 NBA Free Agency
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
I agree; I don't find much value in Roddy. Maybe if we were rebuilding and could give him minutes, but I just don't see it.
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
I thought the same but checked. He is currently listed as "Special Advisor to the Medical & Performance Team" for the Pelicans, whatever that means.

Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
Maybe he is still under contract, so they created this make-believe position while they still pay him.
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
Ya that might be it…he got moved to a different position
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
Right. I don’t mean that Nelson himself is still the hot shit anymore, more so that the Suns are no longer known for having a magic training staff.
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
When they claim him off waivers do they basically pay the remainder of his contract?

Have to have the cap room to do it though.

So much for that
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
I must be old because $20M/3 still seems like a ton of money. I liked Bey in the draft, but he hasn't improved much in his time in the league. At least, that's how it looks by the numbers. Can't say I've gone out of my way to watch him. I thought he was a minimum contract guy.

It sure seems like a lot for a guy who's badly injured and will miss most/all of the first season of the deal.O_Gardino wrote: ↑Thu Jul 11, 2024 6:53 amI must be old because $20M/3 still seems like a ton of money. I think Trent was making $18.5m and Klutch turned down $15m/year because they wanted $25m/year. Now the Raps pulled the offer. Wonder how it shakes out.
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
I'd love Trent here, but he can probably do better both in terms of minutes and $$$ than we can provide.
Re: 2024 NBA Free Agency
I haven't had much of an appetite to bring back Okogie, and I agree there are better options out there that can likely be had for the minimum. But I went back and watched Games 3 and 4 against Minnesota, and just based on those games, I can see why the Suns are still open to bringing him back.
The problem again is roster construction. We still have needs that Okogie doesn't address, and a third of the roster is devoted to shooting guards 6'5 and under.
