Shel referenced this:

Monte Morris is perfectly fine as a backup point guard; the problem is having only one point guard on the roster. I don't know if you can count on Gillespie for significant minutes/contributions.

Problem is that he doesn't just catch and shoot. He jacks shots up and is very inconsistent. I hated that deal for Toronto when they traded Norman Powell for him. I'd take Norman Powell any day over Trent.

But Trent off the bench at the minimum? Not bad? Only concern would be that he be openly gunning for his next contract.

I think that would just lead to playing Durant with 4 shooting guards, and that isn't going to get us very far. We have to stop just adding names and talent and start thinking about how the pieces fit together. Adding Trent when he is in "prove my worth" mode to the Booker/Beal/Allen/Lee/Little Rotunda of Redundancy just doesn't do anything for us.

It's a loss from a depth perspective, but a resounding win for my sanity over the next 10 months.

Didn’t realize we were counting dunking as shooting…in his last season in Milwaukee he played George Hill, Wesley Matthews, and Jordan Nwora all 1000 minutes or more…they all had equal or worse TS% numbers than Okogie last year.

Giannis isn't a shooter but gets downhill and muscles his way to the basket and gets to the line. But with Lopez and Portis able to clear out of the lane and space the floor it works.

I guess Suns brass didn’t want him.

Wish we could have found room for Cam here. I hope he does well in New York; they're assembling a fun, really likable team there.

The Knicks are basically what we were 3 years ago.
