Why is Joel Embiid on our team and not Cameroon? I get that he's a US citizen and eligible for our team. But doesn't he want to play for his country of birth? Aren't they devastated that he didn't play for their team?
They didn’t have a team for the Olympics

Apparently the French think he should be playing for them. He gets booed every time he touches the ball.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

There's a lot more to it.

He wrote Macron a letter talking about how much he loved France and considered it his home, spewing a bunch of Bs about family that lives there and his memories. He promised he would represent them in international play if he was granted citizenship. Macron said ok, gave him priority citizenship and then he ditched them and played for the US instead.

He's a complete POS, and I'm not French

We know he's a pussy against Jokic, he probably did not want to compete with Wemby and Gobert for time on the court.

In my book, so far he’s a more talented version of Ayton.

Great player, but also a clown. I have no respect for his approach to competition. Wish he wasn’t on the US team. He’s clearly the worst player on the team, and they do way better when he’s on the bench.

Also, this Olympics has illustrated how mediocre he would be if the NBA didn’t baby him so much.

Yup.

Embiid rules. Giannis rules. Luka rules.

Manufactured stars.

Giannis and especially Luka have more actual talent, but it's the same. They make a living off bullshit calls and the consequences of defenders playing scared to foul

I'll give it to Serbia... They've played a heck of a game and were nailing everything early on. We shouldn't have dug this hole we're in but pretty cool watching us claw our of it. Shocked Embiid is actually producing.

I’m gonna a have to repeat what I said earlier in this thread for which I was called unamerican, but it’s damn hard to root for Embiid and LeBron. Pretty cool to have Curry on our side tho.

Serbia deserved that win but deserve's got nothing to do with it. Glad Book and KD hit some shots at the end, LBJ and Curry came thru. Was waiting for the big Curry game since he'd been quiet and he picked the right one to get hot. Our defense and rebounding was awful and Kerr almost blew it with the rotations. I don't think France will be as tough but we'll see.

Well, Nodack was complaining that it was too easy...there it is.
One thing is to beat a Brazilian team that barely got to the olympics, Serbia is another kind of animal.

KD also had that big defensive play forcing the backcourt violation.

Book was a +16 in that close game. KD was clutch.

I never liked him. He’s a great player but I’ve never been a fan of the off court posturing and the attention whoring. And I still hold a grudge over Klutch/Bledsoe. I’m not sure if that qualifies me as a hater but it’s just super hard for me to root for him.
