I’m really worried about our big man situation. We have five bigs on the roster. (I’m ignoring Frank, who shouldn’t be playing in the NBA anymore.) We have Nurk, Plum, KD, Bol and Oso.

Unfortunately Bol, despite his length, plays more like a 3, at least on D. Oso is the #40 pick in the draft and hasn’t played an NBA minute. And we saw Nurk get exposed in the playoffs.

IF Bol can suddenly learn to defend in the paint, IF Oso turns out to be way too good to have lasted as long as he did in the draft, IF we have a relatively healthy season, and IF Nurk doesn’t get exploited in the playoffs again, then we can get through the season with these five. But unless all those stars line up perfectly, this looks to me like an impending disaster.

Am I being a Debbie Downer, or is everyone as concerned as I am?
I'm concerned too but not sure there's much we can do until the deadline and then it will cost us Royce or Grayson. Beal is really the issue IMO, through no fault of his own.

Not only that, the 55-year-old – a two-time Coach of the Year (Atlanta 2015, Milwaukee 2019) – hasn’t suffered through a loss since April 26, 2023, the longest such gap in an NBA coaching career that began back in 1996, holding a clipboard next to San Antonio’s Gregg Popovich.
“Hasn’t suffered through a loss” is an interesting way to say “Hasn’t coached a game.” It’s not like he’s riding a winning streak.

I think the Knicks got a little worse. Randle's a better fit at the 4 next to Gobert and they need his scoring but he and Edwards taking turns with the ball might get ugly. DDV is a sniper they need.

This is a hilarious trade for Minnesota. Randle and Gobert just gonna clog the paint for Ant, I'm so glad that KAT is gone. They are worse, I don't care about the auxiliary pieces, Minnesota just broke the first good team they've had in 15 years lol. Good for New York.

Minnesota and Denver are both worse now, there is a clear path for the Suns to get outta the west. Beautiful.

Am I crazy to not like this for either team? I was not a big believer in Randle. He seems like a high usage low efficiency guy to me who probably is past his peak already. I know KAT has his flaws but he seemed to fit well with Gobert and Ant. Nasty 3-point shooter who didn't play defense, but Gobert made up for some of that.

But somehow I also don't like it for NYK. KAT could be good in a new city, but Randle has a leadership and toughness that KAT is sorely lacking. And I think the Knicks will feel the pain of KAT's lack of defense more since they don't have Gobert.

KAT is an all NBA talent, the Knicks are better now. Adding Bridges, OG and KAT over the last 6 months is incredible work.

I don’t trust KAT, but he’s a special offensive talent and that Knicks squad is loaded. For all the Ant hype, Brunson is a better basketball player and Mikal/OG/Hart is the best defensive wing trio in the league. Knicks are legit

I like it for both teams myself. But shame on the Knicks for breaking up the Nova boys before they even played one game.

Wonder if they were trying to keep Donte out of it…he’s a nice addition for Minny. I am skeptical on the Randle/Gobert fit…though Randle/Naz could be fun

Randle alternates 40%/30% shooting from 3 and needs the ball in his hands to unleash his well above average playmaking from the 4 spot but has negative wingspan so he cannot play the 5. With Gobert behind him, Conley aging, and Ant nowhere near a primary pg level playmaker, he should carve out a pretty nice role and help offer offense. I think it’s quite a solid fit for both teams.

KAT may have All-NBA talent, but he's more of a borderline All-Star player. Getting DiVincenzo and a 1st along with Randle is a pretty good deal.

KAT will tantaize some people with his shooting and stats, but his defense is going to be hard to build a championship team around.

I get it from a talent standpoint. But this just killed all the vibes. You’re trading away one of the nova guys before they even got a chance to all play together. KAT is soft and will crumble under Thibs, are we forgetting how that went in Minny?

Saw a report that Donte wasn’t actually happy in NY and wasn’t into all the Nova stuff. Mikal probably stole a lot of his minutes as well. Seems like they kept the 3 that were super close and added a better offensive fit alongside them. KAT isn’t a great defender, but neither is Randle. Mikal/OG will be the cornerstone of the defense. Good luck defending a Brunson/KAT pick and roll…a sharp shooter spacing would be nice, but Mikal, OG, and Hart can all shoot, can all attack close outs, can all cut. They are elite role players. Team is built really nicely.

Yep, I'm afraid NY got better. They're going to be tough.

And I’m happy…East needs good teams. Boston had the easiest road to the finals I can remember last season.
