In the East, not really a worry for me. Wolves stepped back, Nuggets stepped back, big win for the Suns.
Love, Hurts.

I think the West has a clear #1 in OKC in a tier by themselves…then I’d put Denver, Minny, Dallas, Phoenix, and Memphis all in that 2nd tier.

And I’m happy…East needs good teams. Boston had the easiest road to the finals I can remember last season.
What about our own road in 2021? Every opponent was missing a key player.

Every opponent Boston played was also missing a key player and they didn’t play any of the top 3 seeds.

Oh, big deal. There were 4 games separating the 2 seed from the 8 seed. It didn’t matter much which seeds they played.

Ya they were all equally garbage. Every team in the west playoffs was better than 2-8 in the east. It’s not an even remotely close comparison.

Suns for sure got a comfortable road, but that Boston path was a joke.

8 seed Miami missing their best player(Jimmy Butler).
4 seed Cavs without Jarrett Allen and without Donovan Mitchell for multiple games.
6 seed Pacers missing Haliburton for multiple games. Literally every team was missing their best player for multiple games.

We faced the defending champion Lakers with LeBron James playing…sure Anthony Davis only played half the series, but that Lakers team alone is better than anything Boston faced.

Then we played a 3-seeded Mavs team with the MVP of the league healthy. Missing Murray, but again, that’s a better team than any team Boston faced.

Then the 4 seed Clippers without Kawhi. Nice lucky break, but that was still a good Clippers team that beat the 1 seed Jazz without Kawhi.

Every team the suns played was better than the 3 teams Boston played in the East playoffs last year.

For a fair comparison, the Lakers would have needed to be missing LeBron for the whole series. Jokic would have had to miss 2 games as well as Murray being out…then if the Clippers were just a mid team missing their best player it would compare.

We didn’t have CP3 for most of the Lakers series IIRC?

Well, that’s one guy who will definitely never reconsider his religious views.

That's an odd comment to make.

Dikembe was a great player, but more importantly, a great humanitarian.

Oh no, that's awful news about Dikembe. He seemed like such a kind and joyful soul, and he did so much to help others.

Dikembe is one of my favorite NBA guys. So sorry to see him go. He was fun to watch when I was first getting into basketball, and he seemed like a great guy too. Damn.

I'm really looking forward to facing them in the playoffs. It'll be a great series.

I’m really worried about our big man situation. We have five bigs on the roster. (I’m ignoring Frank, who shouldn’t be playing in the NBA anymore.) We have Nurk, Plum, KD, Bol and Oso.

Unfortunately Bol, despite his length, plays more like a 3, at least on D. Oso is the #40 pick in the draft and hasn’t played an NBA minute. And we saw Nurk get exposed in the playoffs.

IF Bol can suddenly learn to defend in the paint, IF Oso turns out to be way too good to have lasted as long as he did in the draft, IF we have a relatively healthy season, and IF Nurk doesn’t get exploited in the playoffs again, then we can get through the season with these five. But unless all those stars line up perfectly, this looks to me like an impending disaster.

Am I being a Debbie Downer, or is everyone as concerned as I am?
I'm concerned too, but we didn't get smaller than we were last year. We know how bad the defense can be. This year, we will be better on offence and we have some options at the trade deadline. IMO, we should have the best offense in the NBA and maybe the 10th best defense.
