I have really enjoyed Dunn, but I think I might love Oso even more. He's such a talented facilitator and is always in the right place.

Everyone's been focused on Tyus but it's cool that Monte is just as solid as advertised

Another really good showing. The team isn't even fully clicking yet but they're already lightyears ahead of last year's team in terms on flow and chemistry on the court. As much as Vogel's offense sucked, having Tyus and Monte running things is making a huge difference. I don't know what moves need to be made with the payroll but we need to keep at least one of those guys longterm. 46(!) threes taken tonight and we didn't even have Allen on the floor. Beal looks like he's in great shape and is probably still feeling out his offense more than anyone else with the starters. Noticed Bud using him with the 2nd unit while Book and KD rest - Monte, Beal, Okogie, Royce and Oso played for a stretch I think in the 2nd. Very small but active and able to spread the floor. I'd guess Allen takes JO's spot but we're still small. Need a legit backup 4 at some point.
The rooks look like vets, which is the ultimate compliment. They just know how to play and are getting good minutes mixing in with the starters. The offense shows constant player and ball movement - we ran double drag early with Book and Beal as screeners that led to a KD jumper. A lot of creativity within the sets. We'll struggle with larger, more physical frontcourts for now but just have to balance that out with shooting.

I think weβre going to be alright. This team has it. These rooks are solid.

I think the second unit is going to destroy people. Monte, Beal, Dunn/Okogie (whoever is on), the length of Bol and Oso or Plumlee.
Go Suns!

What about Grayson/Royce?
Re: Game Day (Preseason): Suns (1-0) @ Pistons (1-0), Tues 10/8/24
Dunno, I'm not really a Royce fan. I think he'll have situational uses. I'm so used to Grayson being a starter. It's going to be weird getting used to him coming off the bench if that's what's going to happen. But yeah, Monte, Dunn, Grayson, O'Neale/Bol, Oso/Plumlee. Even more talented.
Go Suns!

Also not a Royce fan. can't see him not getting minutes though, especially to start the year

If Royce is hitting his shots he's very useful. He's gonna get a ton of open looks if this early offense is any indication.
Love, Hurts.

That was the huge smile of the night sequence. Ripping the ball from Cunningham and then coming down and nailing the three. We've got some fun rookies, folks. The whole energy of the team is already so much better this year. Should be fun.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

If Dunn is hitting jumpers he is going to absolutely play himself into meaningful minutes. And be exactly what this team needs. Incredibly easy days, obviously, but nice first signs.

Another note on Dunn - Against the Lakers he came off the bench and went right to guarding LeBron. Last night, he came off the bench and went right to guarding Cade with success. He made life really difficult for him as a point of attack defender, which hopefully bodes well for future matchups against guys like SGA, Harden, and Luka in the West. It also takes the pressure off Book and Beal from having to guard those guys - while Dunn was on Cade, Book was able to relax a bit on Ivey. Interested to see if we switch Dunn onto smaller, speedier guards like FVV, Kyrie, Jamal Murray, etc or if Tyus and Monte are sufficient there.

I can't take credit for it. I heard it on the PHNX podcast postgame last night. One of the people in the comment section made up the name and the PHNX people loved it, except Lindsey, who took a little bit for it to grow on her. I wish I could remember the name of the person that came up with it, so I could give them credit.

Oso needs to learn to either pump fake and go for a dunk, or get a spin move to get the push off. Eventually even guards will devour that.
He really is like Draymond in that his own offense is secondary to the teams; which in turn becomes a detriment to the team.
He is the core basics of what whey probably envisioned AYTON
to be.
