Around the NBA: Week 1 (10/21 - 10/27)

Just getting a thread up. Doesn't make sense to be talking about the games of the new season in the off season thread.

Deuce McBride looks and sounds like somebody out of the movie Semi-Pro.

Man, I feel bad for Bridges. Lost his shot. 0-5 to start. 0-4 from three.

Boston's starters tonight shot a collective 26-41 from three (their bench went 3-20, or they'd have easily broken the record for 3-point makes in a game). Impossible to beat a team that's going to shoot like that.

I'm on board with the idea that the 3-point shot has become too determinative in success and failure in the modern NBA. It feels to me like changes need to be made to rebalance offenses. I think, for example, that eliminating the corner 3 (too easy of a shot compared to its value) might be a good start.

Sorry, I've been swamped. I'll try to fill in the thread before bed.

Dude;

I'm watching the Lakers/Wolves and there is NO WAY Edward's a better 2-guard than Book.

Scoring.......maybe
But that dude doesn't pass for shit

Ant is really good, but the league and fans have been a little hasty to crown him. He still has work to do.

Is it possible that this Minny / NYK trade makes both teams worse?

Randle looked awful on the wolves - just a bad fit from what I saw. Divincenzo looked ok but didn’t shoot well. The knicks have no depth. I’m not as sure about them being very good as others seem to be. They will have some big scoring nights but their D was non existent against a red hot Boston.

Every time I saw Divincenzo shoot last night, he missed badly. He wasn't even close.

If anyone shoots 50% from 3 on 60 shots, I expect them to win.

Wow, OKC went into Denver and took care of business decidedly.

OKC didn't even play that well, Denvers bench is a disaster.

Good…. Hopefully we don’t have to see that sloth in the playoffs.

I think Denver is in for a rough season. They still have Jokic, but I don't really love most of their roster. Murray doesn't really seem like the same player he was at his peak, and Porter Jr is also off. I like Braun but in general they don't have much depth. You can tell they're a bit desperate because they have Westbrook coming off their bench chucking bricks. I think this may be the season they take a step back.

They're on the same post-title decline as the Bucks.

Ya I think Denver is good, but not a major threat anymore…I think we should finish ahead of them.

I never got to this, but I can help do next week's threads instead. Sorry about this. It's a busy time for me; 4 kids, a busy job, some side work projects, holidays coming up. I want us to get the season off to a strong start with good threads and such.
