I freaking love Dunn so much. He is something we desperately needed on this team, a long athletic nasty wing defender who can guard the other team's best guard / swing player every night. He doesn't fix everything wrong with this team, but he plugs one of the hugest holes we had. Now we can put out lineups where 3-4 of our defenders are legitimately excellent. We still have trouble with big burly teams like LAL, OKC, NOP, PHI, etc. and could use a rim-running defensive center. I don't think Oso has the size to be that player, and I don't think that player is currently on the Suns roster. Seems like against those teams we just need to survive the best we can and try to outscore them.
It's still early on and we've seen Okogie have some hot stretches from 3 that are just random variations away from his actual average before he crashes back down to earth.
But if somehow he managed to go from a 0 to a 40% 3 point shooter from summer league to regular season, I am happy to eat all the bad things I said about this front office for relying on a late first round pick with no offensive game in college to speak of to plug in right away on a title contender. It's been amazing and he's my favorite player to have out there. So refreshing.
Oso, IDK. He's too small to roll out against bigger 5's in the league, and he doesn't have a reliable shot to stretch them out either. So he's just not really playable consistently right now. He's either got to bulk up or develop a 3 ball.
I’ll just say, while I understand the Okogie comparisons, one thing Dunn has going for him is that he’s shown tremendous confidence in launching that three which Josh has never had in the two plus years he’s been here. So that’s a positive sign.
Share your thoughts on Oso SS. I think we need to pump the brakes a bit on him being a first rounder. Good basketball head for sure but his back cut bounce pass can get a bit predicable and if that’s taken away he’s just a nice pick setter at the moment. A slightly better passing Richaun perhaps.
Oso's proven to be a not-great tweener so far. I think we could be scheming more for him in PnRs to get him that short roll midpaint shot he's so good at. He's had a few mistakes on defense which may be costing him minutes right now but I thought he did OK in the Mavs game for a stretch, even getting switched onto Luka at one point and not embarrassing himself. We just don't seem to be able to play to his strengths as a highpost passer or roll option right now.
Some tools there with Oso…I also worry about him being too much of a tweener…too small for the 5 and not enough skills for the 4. I’m very happy with him though…2nd round pick that has a chance to be a rotation player in time…can’t complain about that.
If he can change his shot form and develop a shot, he would be much more effective, imo.

I love Oso as a developmental guy, he has the smarts and I get the impression he has the drive to develop into a rotational piece in the future. I don't think he's a playoff rotation player this year. We need to make a move for a big man by the deadline. I just really hope we can somehow get a better fit at the 5 packaging Nurk and whatever draft stash we have left.
Agree with both of you on Oso…not sure he’ll be ready this year. I have no expectations that he’ll ever be Bam/Horford/Sabonis…but those are best case scenarios for his type of player.

To steal from SNL, I think we all agree that Oso is currently a not-ready-for-prime-time player at the moment but let's hope he gets there. But, for late 2nd round, we can't really complain.
I am a bit worried that Coach Bud doesn't seem to want to play Bol Bol at all. I think Bol, while being a bit of a chaos agent, can bring a lot of positives off the bench. I like Oso but I don't really get why Bud is giving all the bench PF minutes to Oso over Bol. I like Oso's BBIQ and passing but in general I don't think he's really ready for the rotation minutes he's getting. I think I would prefer to see Bol in those minutes for now.
I get the feeling Bol takes awhile to learn the intricacies of scheme…he didn’t play early last year at all either….let him learn Bud’s scheme and then we can see what he can do.
