Suns News: Week 2 (10/28 - 11/3)
Re: Suns News: Week 2 (10/28 - 11/3)
Adams may be washed but he does two things really really well and he’s probably a huge locker room net plus?
Re: Suns News: Week 2 (10/28 - 11/3)
I’m not sure what’s going on with the team right now, but I’m pretty sure the locker room is doing fine and not a source of any issues we’re having. Even Nurk is out there trying his best, he just looks totally lost right now (which, admittedly, might become a locker room problem if it goes on too long and his teammates or coaches lose patience).

Jonas Valanciunas is sitting on Washingtons bench, id take him.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: Week 2 (10/28 - 11/3)
“Sitting on the bench” is kind of misleading. He isn’t starting, but he has played 20 minutes or more in every game. (Nurk has done that just twice in four games.)
He’s also rivaling Nurk in the +/- department at -28, though a change of scenery can often make a difference there. Actually, if they both continue to suck at +/-, a swap might make sense for both teams, but before that happens both players will get a chance to adapt to new coaches and new systems. If they can’t adapt where they are, maybe they’ll be able to adapt on each other’s team.

I just like that he's a better shooter from the perimeter than Nurk while offering a lot of the same good and bad in other areas. Basically just wanna keep the size and upgrade the shot.Cap wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 7:48 am“Sitting on the bench” is kind of misleading. Interesting
Only 4 games but is it really all Nurk or the starting group as a compatible unit.....

If KD gets the Suns a chip, there should be a statue built of him. And, another one for Booker.

Nurk is part of it, but I also think Beal is better off the bench. I'd start Grayson or Dunn instead.bajanguy008 wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 10:53 amInterestingThe 5 most used lineups for the Suns so far. All of them have an absurdly high net rating…except the one that starts.

Top per-possession On-Off diff in the league: Royce O’Neale, and second place isn’t even close. Plum is #7.
Bottom 3: Max Christie, Mikal Bridges, and Nurk. Durant is #8 from the bottom, and Book and Tyus are on the last page too. I.e., our whole starting lineup save Beal.

Mikal is plagued by the first game of the season, in which he was a -33 in a 23-point loss at Boston.

I agree that the locker room isn’t a problem right now. I also didn’t insinuate that Nurk is a negative, just that Adams would be a plus. The question mark is because I am not sure if he would be a plus in this environment, I think his personality might be more steadying for a very young team or for a team looking for an identity which I’m not sure is where we are right now.Cap wrote: ↑Thu Oct 31, 2024 6:44 amI’m not sure what’s going on with the team right now, but I’m pretty sure the locker room is doing fine and not a source of any issues we’re having. But I do love Adams.

The evolution of Dunn's shooting is really amazing, but you can kind of see seeds in these clips. Sure, he horribly air-balls multiple FTs and bricks the others. But this isn't a Shaq situation or whatever, where you watch the guy shoot and you know he has no chance. Dunn's form wasn't too bad before; seemed like he had his feet set well, he bent his knees and moved his whole body in fluid motion and so on, his arm and hand position isn't bad, he puts good arch on the shot. He just needed some tweaks from a pro-level shooting coach and tons of hours of practice to set in the right new habits. He's putting in the work and it's paying huge dividends.
I love that Coach Bud totally gets it and sees that Dunn is special and is just like "F it I'll start the guy if any starter is injured" and plays him in crunch time and so on. He can do it, he's ready, he's succeeding. Coach deserves a ton of credit for having the stones to put a rookie in a position like that. And Dunn deserves a ton of kudos for meeting the moment and playing great even in pressure situations.
