Claxton makes $28M this season, so it's not possible.
Putting that aside, I've become increasingly skeptical of Claxton now that he's been paid. I'm getting some heavy Ayton-type vibes from him this season. From an optimistic perspective, his salary does decline yearly, so he could be a pretty good player/asset again in a couple of seasons. Or whatever the hell he's doing this season could become a long term issue and it's a terrible contract until it's expiring in 4 years.
I don't think he's a reliable solution for the Suns Center problem this season.

I always have this sneaking suspicion that teams hold guys out a bit to get a look at other players. Like with Nurk, "hey, take some time off and rest up while we get Oso some minutes and see how he looks with some extended time".
I don't know what "championship level piece" we could get with Grayson but it always felt like he was the most expendable. Nance was mentioned in another thread and on paper he'd be a nice fit but how effective can he be? Consistency's been kind of an issue with him. I still like Stewart but I might just like the idea of him than the actual player.
All things being equal, would we trade Allen and take back Chris Paul? Not that the Spurs would do it and we have Tyus and Monte but I feel like Paul is the type A leader we're missing.

No way I trade Allen for Paul. His leadership was missed last season but I don't think we lack anymore what he has left to offer. Allen is our main realistic trading chip and if we have title aspirations we need to nail a move to cover actual needs, namely a relevant big man.
Allen is a usable trade piece, but I dunno. You can never have too much shooting. I like having a platoon of wings who can all hit 3s when open. That's exactly what we need around Book and KD.

Very true but on the other hand, we really are missing that big man power forward piece and we remain on the small side overall.
I tend to agree, especially with this offense and coach. The issue is size on the wing and Allen and Royce tend to be redundant due to their lack of size. We should be bombing away on 3s but we aren't doing that either.
My read would be on the athleticism part. Being a ballhandler on offense like Booker and having to paly with Nurkic must feel like you are missing a couple of fingers.
