Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
Re: Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
I know that a lot of people have said that Beal's is the worst contract in the league, but I wonder, do all the fanbases agree with this? If a trade were on the table today, would we trade Beal for Embiid or Kawhi? Any other contract that's on par with these three?
----------- 24-25 --- 25-26 --- 26-27
Beal ------ 50.2 ---- 53.7 ---- 57.1 (PO)
Kawhi ---- 49.2 ---- 50 ------- 50.3
Embiid --- 55.2 ---- 64.3 ----- 64.3 ---- 64.3 (PO)
----------- 24-25 --- 25-26 --- 26-27
Beal ------ 50.2 ---- 53.7 ---- 57.1 (PO)
Kawhi ---- 49.2 ---- 50 ------- 50.3
Embiid --- 55.2 ---- 64.3 ----- 64.3 ---- 64.3 (PO)

What's Paul George getting paid? The Sixers up a creek too.pickle wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:09 pmI know that a lot of people have said that Beal's is the worst contract in the league, but I wonder, do all the fanbases agree with this? Big body, very physical, can hit the 3 ball reliably, smart in the short roll working with Doncic, accepts his role on a reasonable contract.

I would make those trades. Kawhi and Embiid are much better when they play…the Embiid one would terrify me though…PG and Murray are the two worst I thinkpickle wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:09 pmI know that a lot of people have said that Beal's is the worst contract in the league, but I wonder, do all the fanbases agree with this? I said I’d trade Beal for Kawhi in the offseason straight up and y’all called me stupid.

I don’t remember that, but I can’t imagine disagreeing with that

Crazy end to the rockets-cavs game. garland missed two free throws at the end of the game and Houston held on to win by one.
Re: Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
Interesting, I am not sure that I would. Kawhi is quite the diva himself, and is he *really* a better on court performer right now? Beal gets nicks and bruises, yes, but he plays about 50 something games every year, and he was on the court in the playoffs last season. Last time Kawhi was actually on the court for the last playoff game was in Toronto. Embiid also... before this year I would've laughed at any proposal to swap Beal for him from a Sixer fan perspective. But the injuries he's dealt with this year, the 64 mil price tag with the one extra year, the fact that he flopped while shooting a free throw this year, ... is he *really* better value right now?Split T wrote: ↑Wed Jan 22, 2025 7:52 pmI would make those trades. PG13 deal does look pretty awful right now. Murray has played better recently though...
Re: Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
I just think we are going nowhere with Beal…ya Kawhi and Embiid both have a high chance of failure, but at their best, they could drastically change the outlook of this team

I’d trade all of our picks for that fat ass Zion. Even if he only played 30 games a year. Him, Book and KD probably go 28-2 in those games. Only negative I see is Zion might eat one of the 1st rounders before it could go to NO so it’ll end up only being 2 instead of 3.

Watching the Clippers makes me so jealous, that team is always so well coached and they always play hard. Ty Lue is a wizard.
Love, Hurts.

Suns legend Drew Eubanks tries Zach Edey
Re: Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
Lively and Kleber both out for the Mavs. They'll be in the market for a big but another team that's taking a hit in the standings.
Re: Around the NBA: Week 14 (1/20 - 1/26)
That's rough for the Mavs. They otherwise seemed poised to take one of the top 2-3 spots in the West. Instead they're 9th, behind even us (!).
Looking at the standings, some stray thoughts:
- Who had Houston and Memphis as their 2-3 in the West in their predictions? Wow.
- Denver seems to have steadied their season and now have a pretty solid lock on 4th in the West with a 28-17 record. 8-2 in their last 10. Jokic is having another insane season, averaging 30/10/10.
- Suns currently sit at 8th in the West, which isn't very impressive. But there is a big glut of teams around the 5-12 range so a few W/L here and there can jump teams up or down a lot.
- The Spurs had a somewhat hot start to the season and seemed like they might be a playoff team early. But now they're 3-7 in their last 10 and sitting at 12th in the West.
- The East is super top-heavy; the top 3-4 teams are who you'd expect, but you can make the play-in even with a 19-27 record like the Bulls. Surprises on that bracket for me include the Pistons at 6th and Magic at 7th. Orlando has had a ton of injuries this season but you figure if they had all their guys, they could be at 3rd or 4th right now, which is scary.

Zubac is one of the more underrated players in the league.
Not flashy, but he does many things well.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
