Poor thing. Either he believes this or has been forced by ownership to spin their move. His career is effective killed once he is fired by the Mavs. Nobody is going to hire the guy who traded away Luka 'for the future'.

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
The only tiny bit of sanity for the Mavs is that Davis is the best win now big you can get after the untouchable Jokic-Giannis-Wemby. But they left so much value on the table. And now Luka Doncic is a Laker.ShelC wrote: ↑Sun Feb 02, 2025 1:54 pmIt's clear that Harrison's previous relationship with Davis factored into the deal. He wanted AD on the Mavs and got what he wanted at the expense of a potentially better deal elsewhere. But even with that, if you're ownership you can't allow that trade to go thru. Even if the money/extension was a factor, you have to press your GM to get more from the Lakers.

Word is the Mavs ownership did not want to pay Luka the ultramax. The rumor is that the new ownership is in this to make money and don't care about winning first. The 'we need a big, defense, etc.', is just spin to weather the storm, same as the alleged concerns about the player's dedication to his fitness (seriously man, even if not a gym rat this is a player who has carried you franchise to a Finals and has delivered GOAT performance).

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
SAS managed to keep Castle, Sochan and all their other quality youth, all their win-now pieces and also were not forced to empty their picks chest. Extremely good move for them from a value standpoint. Now, on court fit it gives me some pause because Fox is not a great shooter or a floor general, but in any case now they have a very good 1-2 punch with Fox-Wemby, plus a lot of accesory pieces around and assets to keep building their rotation.
CHI also did well here if your goal was to cut salary. I've always liked Lavine more than most, but the Bulls were not going anywhere anyway. Vucevic should be dumped next. And if they are doing a firesale I'd look into Jalen Smith and Jevon Carter for us ($15M combined).
For the Kings, I believe this is a poor result. Lavine, even if expensive, is good and having a very nice season. But now you are the 2023-2024 Bulls except you change Vucevic for Sabonis. Where is that going to lead you in the West? Play in or lower half of playoff bracket? Do you have real flexibility to make a move that puts you on a higher level? Doubtful.
Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I wonder what they are going to do with Chris Paul now? Fox will be their starting PG, and Castle needs to continue to get minutes and has been growing.

Also LeBron…. Wouldn’t be surprised if he’s moved. Could see him going to a playoff ready team and making a run.

Well at least the Lakers have ended up with the biggest backcourt in history. LeBron at 6'9'' and 250# and Luka at 6'6" and perhaps as much as 270# That's a quarter ton of starting guards.
Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
In that situation, you still shop him around and get fair market value instead of just taking the first lowball offer.Ring_Wanted wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 1:08 amWord is the Mavs ownership did not want to pay Luka the ultramax. My gut tells me They are gonna trade Grayson to the Magic for Gary Harris and their two ‘25 1st they got, giving us 3 1st next year. Probably won’t keep all em then before the deadline but maybe keep 2 to move up or move back to get more assets.

They're not gonna make a trade that makes them worse this season if they're set on keeping KD and bookWally_West wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:03 am

Do you think Grayson can get you two 1sts? I’d say probably just 1Wally_West wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:03 am

I think that’s where Nurk’s contract comes in. That Bogi deal makes sense if Grayson is traded. You’re betting he is having just an off year, but if returns to his normal self, he’s way more dynamic of player offensively than Grayson. Personally hope we trade nurk for a bigger wing. Even when we get butler, I’d still want to get bigger.specialsauce wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:15 amThey're not gonna make a trade that makes them worse this season if they're set on keeping KD and bookWally_West wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:03 am

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
For Gray Harris, who’s completely washed? It’s such a clear upgrade that I think you could get 2 1st. It’s just for next year, one belongs to the nuggets, very real chance both picks are early to mid 20s. I’d do that for Grayson if I was them. They still have plenty of picks for future trades. Grayson’s contract is also great to add salary to a trade or flip later too.Split T wrote: ↑Mon Feb 03, 2025 9:37 amDo you think Grayson can get you two 1sts? Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
You move Grayson if you think it gets you what you need to sweeten any deal for Butler.
Grayson's always in a tough spot. He's really good at what he does and he's a luxury if you have him on your team. He won't make a bad team good but he can make a good team better. I think he's perfect as a C+S threat off Book and KD but he always seems expendable.
