Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
The Kevin Durant experiment has failed and he needs to be traded, along with other pieces. Maybe not even because of Durant himself (for the most part, at least) but he is not leading this franchise anywhere. Whether I trade Durant now or in the summer would depend entirely on what I can get for him this deadline. Now, do I believe the Suns are going to actually trade Kevin Durant? Don't think so.
But regardless, no way I am trading Booker. You don't choose the full rebuild route when you have a star in his prime who has pull with other high quality players and does not want out, plus an owner willing to spend. Things change so very fast in the NBA. We need to keep trying (and that's not even getting into our 1stR pick context).

Expiring contracts have value financially but not basketball-wise. Better to trade him ASAP.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 12:12 amTrading KD this week because we can't trade Beal is cutting off your nose to spite your face.
Trade KD in the summer, if at all. They'll have a lot more leverage.

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I have almost no regard for expiring contracts if I'm an owner.
Cap space is the most overrated aspect of NBA roster management by fans. And if anyone wants to disagree, they have to then describe the next several steps involved in best utilizing that cap space, which they cannot because they'd be making assumptions about everything that happens in every front NBA office.

Precisely. You want a guarantee that Durant will re-sign over the summer. Might not be necessary right now because there is still 2 playoff runs before the contract expires.Flagrant Fowl wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:45 amI have almost no regard for expiring contracts if I'm an owner.

The longer you wait the less you'll get in return.virtual9mm wrote: ↑Tue Feb 04, 2025 1:26 amExpiring contracts have value financially but not basketball-wise. He's not an albatross contract. The less control a team has over him, the less they'll be willing to trade.
Get him OUT (but not for the garbage GS has to offer. Send him to OKC for Chet and a first)
Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I'm just glad this is Tuesday and this will all be over on Thursday. I hope we improve the team but we'll see. What we have now isn't working. Ishbia has to see that along with the front office. Some little tweak isn't going to fix it.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
This has been the longest two months. Everyone knows we're broken and we've just been waiting two months for some kind of change. Richards has been EH, but we don't even use our big men like we did under Monty. This team just does not throw alley oops to the roller. Richards is basically just tasked with passing the ball and getting rebounds

If Riley doesn't bend, another thought I have is to make a 4 team deal with Miami that sends KD to Miami and nets us Cam J and Claxton for KD.

Claxton
First round pick
Miami
KD
BKN

Kuminga
Filler
GS
Butler

Beal

Ya but they are the worst team in the league and he’s never expressed wanting to play there

Can’t believe it’s not Centel
Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
Why are the Warriors so desperate to make a move? Doesn’t that completely contradict what Curry and Draymond said not long ago about mortgaging the future?

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I think they feel like they still have a 2-3 year window with Curry, Dray and Kerr. Why piss away Curry's last few effective years?
Myers really screwed them and then jumped ship. They were fortunate to have two high lotto picks and took Wiseman and Kuminga over Wagner and LaMelo. That's why they are where they are now. Those two picks were supposed to bridge the gap from the Curry, Klay, Dray era to the new era.

What did they say? They are desperate because they are wasting the last few years of Curry with a play-in team.

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I should’ve mentioned Steve Kerr as well. They were in unanimous agreement that they shouldn’t mortgage the future for a win-now move and further added how only bad teams do that.
Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
I’m just guessing here, but…
Suns: Butler
Warriors: PG-13
Sixers: Beal
Heat: Wiggins, GP2, filler

Re: 2025 NBA TRADE DEADLINE
They should trade Curry if that’s the case…unless Curry is fine finishing his career on a bad team.
