Game Day: Suns (26-28) @ Spurs (23-29), Thurs 2/20/25
Time: 7:30 pm AZ (6:30 pm PT/9:30 pm ET)
Place: Moody Center, Austin, TX
TV: TNT/TruTV/Max
The Suns resume play following the all-star break in Austin, Texas Thursday night. Wait, what, Austin? Yes, apparently it's part of the Spurs' effort to grow its fan base and expand corporate sponsorship opportunities. Anyhoo, it also marks Durant's return to where he played college ball with the Longhorns.
Suns are 54 games into the 82 game regular season. It's now or never. The schedule is tougher from here on out. Unless this team has a miraculous turnaround, they're most likely out of the playoff picture. The Suns defense, turnovers, and rebounding have been atrocious. The team was not built well and is missing athletes and length. My guess is we'll start doing more player development. It looks to have already started before the break when Bol Bol, TyTy, and even Gillespie got some time. I'm hoping to see much more Ryan Dunn from here on out. Then most likely a major overhaul in the offseason including the first ballot HOFer.

They draft Cooper Flagg and then get KD to demand a trade there where we only get Dillon Brooks and Jabari Smith Jr…Houston then wins the next 3 championships.Charlie Smithy! wrote: ↑Wed Feb 19, 2025 8:00 pmWhat happens if Houston it gets the number one pick?![]()

This is it in a nutshell. We stink / are mediocre. It's now or never? It's never. I think the guys know that this team is toast, a failure. And with the tougher upcoming schedule, I think it is about to get really ugly. There isn't any reason to believe that there is some other "gear" this team has left, any well of pride or energy they haven't yet tapped into, that would cause them to go on a late-season run. Our ceiling this year would be a play-in team, but if you just look at the standings, who's ahead of us, and our strength of opponents the rest of the year, IMO there is no way we make it. We're going to be in the lottery, and we'll give our lottery pick to the (currently 4th in the West) Houston Rockets.Suns are 54 games into the 82 game regular season. It's now or never. The schedule is tougher from here on out. Unless this team has a miraculous turnaround, they're most likely out of the playoff picture. At this point, the most optimistic outcome for the season is that we develop young players, just as you say. Lots more Dunn, for starters, but also Oso, Bol Bol, Gillespie, anyone else who is showing promise. Scale back minutes a bit for KD and Book to minimize the chance of injury. Trade KD in the offseason.
Now as for this particular game, with Wemby out, I am not very scared of the big bad Spurs. So:

Meeting of the 11 and 12 seeds should be on national TV.
