I think there’sa small chance Orlando may want Beal
There's also a small chance Ana De Armas will let me smell her butt. Both seem unlikely though.

What is smallball? I play basketball. I'm not a regular big man. I can switch from the center to the guards. The game is evolving. I'd be dominAyton if the WNBA would let me in. - Ayton

Perhaps, moments before the diarrhea erupts forth, she will consent.

Yes the chances are low, but look at that Orlando roster…they desperately need scoring and shooting. They are last in the nba in 3pt% at 30.7%….league average is 35.8%. Everyone else is at least at 33.3%

They’ve got 36 million committed next year to players who have been awful(KCP/Isaac). They still need 15 million in salary to make it work, but I can see a world where they talk themselves into it. It’s just 2 more years and their big money guys are on the rookie max, so it wouldn’t kill them(and Paolo is still on a rookie scale deal next year).

More likely they’d just ask about Grayson instead, but I wouldn’t be shocked…

I would be shocked if Ana De Armas let any of you degenerates near her though ;)

Waiving and stretching Beal doesn't make sense to me. He has only 2 years left, and eating $100m is way too much, even for a well-to-do owner like Ishbia. Also Beal is a decent player when he plays, not a total waste of space. Besides, even if we stretched him, we'd still be over the 1st apron and well over the cap, so it's not like we could make a ton of new trades or signings. I don't think that would be a good idea given the huge cost of doing it.
Well it depends on how much it saves you on the luxury tax as a repeat offender. They're projected to be paying anywhere between $150-$200 million in tax this year. And the per dollar penalty only increases next year if they're over the 2nd apron again.

The main drawback of course would be having that $20 million a year counting against the cap until 2029-30.

If Ish is going to make financially motivated decisions now, after digging us into this hole with “I don’t care about money” BS that earned him widespread praise, F him. Eat the cash costs for your own dumb decisions and do what’s best for the team.

This is where the “Ish wouldn’t let it happen” nonsense got started. Everybody (but me) was saying those moves were OK, because we could never really get bad, because Ish would never “let it happen” because he would never make financially motivated decisions over what’s best for the team. The promise that he would always pay what it takes is what made so many people so accepting of his moves.

I'd also consider what it's worth not having to worry about Beal, his minutes, his role and opening a roster spot for someone who's a better fit. Addition by subtraction. The longer he's here in a less than ideal role, the more prone he is to become unhappy and a problem for the org.

I don’t think there’s any chance we are waiving and stretching Beal. It’s one thing to do it for Nas Little when it saves 20+ million and he’s basically a vet min charge each season…stretching Beal and getting a 20+ million cap hit for 5 years is awful. They already made a huge cost saving deal by dumping Nurk. They will likely save money on the KD trade…I wouldn’t be surprised if we make additional cost savings moves in regards to Grayson or Royce.

Beal becomes more tradable the longer this goes on…at the draft he’s just two more years, after the start of FA, he might be seen as an option for someone who missed out on a better target…at the deadline some team could convince themselves he’s a late season boost that will turn into a valuable expiring contract. Summer of 2026 he becomes a valuable expiring contract for us.

I don't see any point in bringing back both Beal and Booker next year. Playing them together just means one is always playing out of position and that you'll have two bad defenders on the perimeter.

I don’t think anyone would disagree with that statement…the problem is the cost. It’s not as simple as just trading Beal.
