I think it would be a colossal failure, even from our current starting point, if we miss the playoffs 9 more years.
Agreed and I don't think there is any way it happens. (Knock on wood.) Ishbia is willing to spend. The question is can he recover from his awful start? Next season will be a good litmus test.
Spending doesn’t equate to wins…. I don’t know why we keep thinking his willingness to spend is going to be our saving grace when it hasn’t ever been. We have more money than brains.

Yeah, in all almost three years he's been in control. You think he has no capacity for improvement?

I think we’ll sink much further down before we finally hit rock bottom. Nothing he’s done has proven otherwise. He’s put us out of any serious FA market and have few picks to utilize with an aging roster.

Honestly I’m planning on hitting more gleague games up than suns games. More for your money from the gleaguers.

Bone…. I was highly optimistic when ishbia showed up and liked his enthusiasm. It’s taken time to jump on the ishbia hate train but I’m “all aboard”now until things improve. 😜

Even if you can't draft every year, if you're spending into an apron you should make the playoffs. Now unless they somehow land one of those generational players in their prime I do not expect them to really ever compete for a title.
Ever?!

Is it really that big a statement? You need a generational player in his prime to compete for a title regardless of how good your owner is.

Once a decade it seems someone wins without a generational player in his prime. We can hope for that

If we could all just go back to before the KD trade…. We were in great positions to sign free agents and utilize the draft to continue to grow the franchise. Is there a team in worse shape than us for the next decade?

So who thinks KD belongs in the ring of honor?

I think there’s plenty of teams in worse shape than us.

I still don’t see the KD trade as the downfall move either…the team before we traded for KD was not very good. It still had a lot of issues, like Ayton still being on it, Crowder at home, CP3 a shell of himself…ya we had our picks and Mikal/CamJ, but we were coming off a finals run/regular season win record and we’re headed for a .500 season. Injuries were a huge part, but something needed to happen. The KD trade didn’t work out, but it didn’t work out because we botched everything else after it.

Hindsight is 20/20…it’s easy to go back to that and yes we’d be better off right now if we didn’t do it and just kept Mikal and our picks, but we’d be a 1st round exit team.

What we really should have done is gone full tank, pulled the plug on that season and just let Mikal/Ayton run tons of the offense(kinda what we were doing), but sit Booker the rest of the year and hope to get lucky in the draft. Ayton doesn’t have a playoff meltdown, because we don’t make the playoffs, and maybe we can actually trade him for good players. We keep Mikal, or maybe trade for KD in the summer when the price is now lower. Plus we might have a Thompson brother now too.

I don’t think 2 years can get you into the ring of honor…unless you win a title/mvp. KD definitely not a ROH guy at this point.

You have to at least take us to the Finals. Charles Barkley is the obvious comp for short term Suns superstars. He got the aforementioned MVP while a Sun.

MVP, went to finals, and 4 years…

I think the borderline guy is CP3…got us to the finals, regular season win record, but only 3 years. I could probably be swayed either way on him. Only 2 of the 3 years were good though…really 1.99 as he fell apart up 2-0 on Dallas.

But it was 3 postseasons…
