Suns Hire Jordan Ott as new Head Coach
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Maybe it'll work out but it's hard not to think that we're such a fucking joke of an org. Fuck Ishbia and his empty suit MSU puppets.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Don’t like the MSU implications…but at least he had the resume of someone who could be a head coach. Not as bad as the Gregory hire. I’ll try to give him the benefit of the doubt.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
What's Book really going to say tho. More PR fluff from the Suns to try and get fans onboard.

Re: Suns Hire Ott
I love how they tried to put up this illusion that they were taking their time. I can already tell you how this ends... We'll be back here next year asking....

Re: Suns Hire Ott
Nah OTT will get at least 3 years. He's an MSU guy, he'll have a long leash esp as a 1st time head coach. But I don't think it's a good look around the league either to have such an extensive interview process just to land on the guy everyone figured you were going to hire a month ago. Just more evidence that this is amateur hour.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Underwhelmed, but at least he has a solid resume. If you strip the MSU ties out of it, I think everyone would be fine with it. This isn't like Gregory where your first reaction is WTF? I think Ott will be a solid hire, but still preferred Bryant.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Also, lol at Shams dropping the alignment line. This squad is cooked. At least go get JJJ if we're gonna go full MSU.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
All jokes aside, Ott graduated from Penn St before he joined MSU, and from all accounts including Bookers he seems ready, was a finalist for the Hornets gig last year, I'll have the best hopes for him, I hope we are at least fun to watch next year.
Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Whatever you guys gotta tell yourselves but this is just proof to me Ishbia wants a puppet where he and Gregory (a former college coach) can be shadow coaches and tell their HC who and how to play. That was probably the man gist of the interviews - "How open are you to taking suggestions from management and ownership?" That's their definition of alignment and probably why someone like Quinn didn't make the cut.

Speaking of telling yourself what you need to lol.ShelC wrote: ↑Wed Jun 04, 2025 10:09 amWhatever you guys gotta tell yourselves but this is just proof to me Ishbia wants a puppet where he and Gregory (a former college coach) can be shadow coaches and tell their HC who and how to play. Where there's smoke there's fire buddy.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Indeed, not saying this isn't alarming, as I was the first one to call this hire. But I'm still gonna give him a shot, I really hope we can get something decent from the KD trade and probably future Booker trade if Ott fails.

Re: Suns Hire Ott
Ott has the qualifications to be an NBA coach, but there will always be doubters unless he's successful at turning things around here, and that's going to be a very difficult chore.
The things they need to do now -
- Negotiate some sort of buyout with Beal
- Make the best available deal for Durant - accumulate as many assets as they can
- Trade Booker for the next young franchise cornerstone and continue accumulating assets
- Access what they have and start making deals to fit the pieces together and move players who don't fit into a long-term timeline (Grayson Allen, Royce O'Neal, etc.)
Basically, I'm voting for the nuclear option.

I'm not saying that it's what THEY'D do. Who could have predicted some of the stuff they've done the last couple of years?

This sucks.
Re: Suns Hire Ott
Arg! OF COURSE they did! So obvious. Just came to the site and saw the title. Oh, well. Will start reading about him and hope he surprises us.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.
