Steve Nash joins Suns as senior advisor

This has been posted in other threads, but I think it is thread-worthy on its own.

Who will he be advising? Or is this just a splashy name hire to appease the haters?

No harm can possibly come out of this.

Ya I agree no harm will come…it’s just very vague on what he’s actually doing. Is he advising Ishbia? Our GM? Jordan Ott? The players?

I’m happy enough to get Nash in the org and work out the final details later. Even if it is a splashy name hire, that might not be the worst idea right now.

I expect that he will be part of the alignment team. I hope they discuss the good and bad in wins and defeats along with player evaluations. I think it is great to have another voice in the room.

I think we have had a very good summer. We get to see what we have actually accomplished very soon. I am hoping for the best.

Go Suns
What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.

The dream would be that he'd be around the team a lot, helping teach the youngs to shoot, taking some guys like Gillespie under his wing and give him the "how to succeed in the NBA as a small slow white boy" tips, help guys on the team build good awareness and good habits.

But I think that'd be a pretty heavy investment of time and energy, and I don't know that he signed up for such a deep commitment. It also feels like that would be more of an associate coach role, not an "advisor" role. My guess is that this would be more of a guy-who-comes-to-the-meetings role where he gives some advice about team FO decisions.

But that's fine! Getting him in the door, getting him working for the team in any capacity, is great. He's one of the all-time greatest Suns (my #1 all-time) and having him stay associated with the team is excellent.

I can guarantee you he'll be talking to the players. What a great resource for them to have!

It would be ideal if Nash can help Dunn and Oso with their shooting.
