Game Day: Suns (26-17) @ 76ers (23-18), Tues 1/20/25

Post by Superbone »

Time: 5:00 pm AZ (4:00 pm PT/7:00 pm ET)
Place:Xfinity Mobile Arena, Philadelphia, PA
TV: AZ Family 3TV/NBALP

The Suns travel to Philadelphia to take on the Sixers Tuesday night. No rest for the weary as both teams won the night before. Hopefully, for our sakes, Williams will play this second game of a back to back as we'll need him against Embiid. All signs point to this game being the return of one Jalen Green for the Suns.

If Mark is matched up with Embiid then our guards better be looking for him during transition opportunities.

The 76ers are a huge surprise this year. Maxey and Edgecombe have really helped keep that team afloat with Embiid in and out of the lineup. I thought they would be an absolute disaster but they're still in the mix. Not sure how our bigs will match up with Embiid if he's healthy tonight. I'm curious to see how our perimeter D holds up; guys like Maxey tend to torch us for 40+ points. Maybe a night to give Jordan Goodwin heavy minutes to help slow them down. And of course I can't wait to see Jalen Green return to the lineup; it's about darn time.

Embiid is still a problem when he plays .....30 and 9 yesterday but I don't think he's playing back to backs

Probably a high usage game for Maxey

I agree with the Goodwin take
I even felt last night was the first time he didn't jump off the screen. Nothing to do with scoring but it always seems like you know when he's on the court with some combo of hustle plays, steals, rebounds. He was definitely quiet last night so will be nice if he can cause some defensive chaos with not only Maxey but Edgecombe, George and Grimes

A bit concerned over our perimeter defense of late heading to Philly to see Maxey and Edgecomb. Need to contain them but that's easier said than done. Drummond can give us problems on the boards if Embiid is out. Can't lose track of Grimes and Tsunami Papi either but the focus should be on Maxey and Edgecomb.

Nice close to the end of the 3rd creating some breathing room up 13. Green looks good, nice quickness on his drives, drawing doubles and getting the ball to the open guys, hit a nice stepback 3 that left Grimes on the ground. Bench guys Oso and Goodie helped end the 3rd strong.

Suns have a habit of building a lead and then getting cute with the ball. Suns were up 17 just now, Book gets blocked and Royce is loose with the ball for a TO and they give up two 3s so now it's 11 with 5 minutes left.
