Re: Suns sign Haywood Highsmith
Highsmith had a meniscus injury and was recently cleared to work out. I watched his highlights with the Heat from last year and he has a lot of the same attributes that our current Suns players have.
I like him, but I would have waited. The deadline for a player to be waived and be eligible for the playoff roster on another team is March 1st. We all know this. So, I would have waited. See if there's another power forward or center that could be available around that time. I could be wrong, he may be a savior for this team. Who knows. I simply would have waited a few weeks and try to get a true PF/C cause playoff time, it will be definitely needed.

We still have an open roster spot…. Well we will when we release Anthony, so we could still theoretically sign a PF if they shake loose

I like the idea of a stash FA signing at this point. Seemed a bunch of teams wanted him, maybe we were willing to give a partial guarantee for next year when others wouldn't? No need to rush him back or put expectations on him being some "answer" for us. And with this final stretch, no need to work in a new guy and cut someone else out who's contributed up to this point. But yea, he's definitely insurance/depth for whenever we move Royce and/or Gray.

Plus it’s not costing us a lot and still staying under the apron.

Don't love the injured knee, obviously. But I like that we are bringing in tough JYD type of players and trying to build a new culture here. And I like that we're getting creative with asset acquisition and retention given that we have no 1sts for years to come.

I heard it was a 1 million dollar guarantee next season

Hmm. The injured knee is my favorite. To each their own, I guess.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Sat Feb 21, 2026 7:48 amDon't love the injured knee, obviously.
