Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Is there some kind of competition for the worst (Oh, sorry, “bold”) move of the offseason playing within the league that we aren’t aware of?
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
It was a bad trade, but Green and our crappy 1sts wouldn’t have been better.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Was this a bad trade? For sure. Was it that shocking tho? Not really. They’ve been shopping him for 40 cents on the dollar for a few days now.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Pretty wild offseason.

These other gms are making Gregory look mid with their worse decisions.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
This Jaylen Brown trade blows my mind. What are the Celtics thinking? They might have lost out in this year's playoffs, but they're just a few years removed from a title run, and they undeniably had one of the best teams in the East. A little tweaking and they could have made a run at it for the next few seasons. Instead they give away their second-best player for a washed-up, oft-injured has-been in PG13, along with a few draft picks? What?!? And they trade Jaylen to a hated division rival, the team that just eliminated them in the playoffs? What?!? I guess they felt that the relationship with Brown had deteriorated, but come on, man, wait until some better offers come in. I cannot believe it.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
I watched a video about it last night and they pointed out how the 2nd apron is ruining the ability to create lasting teams with salaries rising and most teams refusing to pay the 2nd apron tax. The Celtics won the year prior to those rules kicking in and now they literally can't afford the team they created. Their new owner is apparently cash poor and had to borrow a lot of money to get the deal done. He reportedly told Brad that the team will not pay the tax so here we are. Cents on the dollar.Mori Chu wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2026 6:26 amThis Jaylen Brown trade blows my mind. What are the Celtics thinking? Edit: You either need young stars on rookie deals or veterans that take a pay cut (like Brunson) to win now. The 2nd apron has essentially created parity for the first time in a league used to dynasties.

2nd apron + the supermax. Teams cannot afford 2 players taking 70% of the cap.carey wrote: ↑Thu Jul 02, 2026 8:24 amI watched a video about it last night and they pointed out how the 2nd apron is ruining the ability to create lasting teams with salaries rising and most teams refusing to pay the 2nd apron tax. It's going to be a few more years of adjusting, but I like the new paradigm that teams can't afford more than 1 star.
"Hey, Jane - get me off this crazy thing called love." - Charlie, but also Suns fans wishing we didn't have to watch more 4th quarter small ball but knowing we will tune in for the next game.

Poor, poor Bill Simmons must be sick to his stomach. Ya hate to see it.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Still crazy poor return for a guy with Brown's pedigree. Don't care if advanced stats hate him, or the salary when you are taking the corpse of George at almosr 60m per for two seasons.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
I read that he was getting a colonoscopy and woke up from the anesthetic to learn that Brown had been traded. If that isn't an ironic metaphor I dunno what is. I don't envy Celtics fans right now!

Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
This summarizes how I see the Brown situation. This plus the fact that he was clearly becoming a nuisance off the court.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Don’t know who this guy is but he speaks the truth.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
Same deal that we gave Kennard. Good deal for Philly. He’s more of a player with the ball in his hands and less of a pure shooter so I still prefer the Kennard fit with our ball dominant starting lineup. But if this were last season I’d probably have wanted him instead.
Re: 2026 NBA Offseason
And more Brown analysis. Pretty good description why analytics don’t love him and honestly the eye test seems to match. That and the “holier than thou” attitude and twitch streaming and I understand the underwhelming trade returns.
