I think brown was overrated when people were calling him a top 10 player, but he’s now shifted to underrated imo. People acting like he’s a bum…I mean he did win a finals mvp.

There are different tiers to stardom. If you gave Dillon 35 shots out of 100 he wouldn’t average 29 ppg. But he’s also not paid 57 mil a year. Brown has a lot of strengths but some obvious warts that make him a bit harder to incorporate into a team. I would say if they called us and offered Brown for Book I would be conflicted and I would ultimately say no.

That people are shitting on him en masse has to do with trying to ride the publicity wave and his rubbing people the wrong way with his attitude. The Twitch stuff don’t help.

Neither have I, but he did very famously say that this past season was his favorite, when the politically correct one would be the season when they won the championship and he got the ECF and FMVP. His underlying message is that he liked being the #1 option on the team better than winning, and that can of course rub the fanbase the wrong way. And the front office probably got tired of putting out publicity fires, combined with the player thinking he’s smarter than the team so he goes to do whatever he wants on those streams.

When the trade happened people immediately went to pull up his streams trashing Embiid as an egregious flopper.

LAL totally was in panic and Ainge fleeced them. Giving up control of 4 1stRs for Kessler is beyond insane.
It’s an Uber-Mozgoving.
While I did initially think this is an awful move, I am reminded that I said the same thing about Minnesota's trade for Rudy Gobert. Minnesota has gotten away with it and been a contender for a few years. Wouldn't be surprised to see the Lakers go the same way.

The only thing that gives me pause from a 76er perspective is that Jaylen Brown wasn't happy sharing the spotlight with Tatum. Is he going to be happy competing for shots and ball control with Maxey, Edgecombe, and Embiid?! And on top of that, their rotation is rounded out with Kelly Oubre and Anfernee Simons, two score-first role players?

Still crazy poor return for a guy with Brown's pedigree. Don't care if advanced stats hate him, or the salary when you are taking the corpse of George at almosr 60m per for two seasons.
Exactly. I'm not an analytics naysayer, but these advanced-stats-based arguments supporting dealing Brown are ridiculous when they turn around and pay Paul George the same money. Yes, George looked better after he returned from his suspension, but does that outweigh the several years of injuries and declining play he has showcased?! Does George having one less year on his deal really make that big of a difference?! Please.

And Boston just finished second in the East with him as their only star. Do advanced stats not take into account...winning?!

The dumb thing about that is that he very clearly prefaces those comments with stating that Embiid is a great player and one of the best bigs to play the game.

Oubre signed with Indiana and Sixers picked up Dean Wade. Besides that I agree with your perspective.

Agreed. But the media has existed for decades if not longer and has always twisted people’s words to grab headlines and eyeballs and this is nothing new. I don’t know what actually happens in Boston’s front office but the rumblings that they are annoyed by his streams doesn’t really surprise me is the point I was trying to make. I don’t care about how the players on my team behave if their behavior doesn’t affect team chemistry. Saying this past year was his favorite season probably does that tho.

I was unaware of Brown's personality which seems to be very off-putting. Always thinking he's the smartest person in the room (maybe he is but have some humbleness, dude). Thinks he's above everybody. Sounds unbearable.

You know the paperclip game? Where you trade a paperclip something better and in turn trade that item for something better. Rinse and repeat? This is it in reverse.

What I don’t understand is why Washington would actually pay real assets to acquire him. Gotta think there’s some I scratch your back and you scratch mine later deal here.

Meanwhile Charlotte gets 3 seconds for taking on DFS.

Speaking of, I guess DFS must really be washed? At one point I was a little mad at the Suns for acquiring Royce over him from the Nets.

Celtics pickup MitchRob (to a richer deal than Mark) and resign Queeta (to a longer and richer deal than Mark) and Knicks replace MitchRob with Drummond.
