They went out of their way to point out how many TOs he is getting per game, and harped on what he needs to do (don't leave your feet, don't guess where guys might be, etc.). It was the first time I heard both EJ and Steve openly criticize him without it being a single comment followed up by a "potential/heart/when he figures it out" positive comment.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Hey, what are everyone's thoughts on Looney? I don't think he'll make it to #13, but I'm starting to think he's the best talent on the board after the big 4, and maybe Hezonja, Porzingis and/or Winslow. Looks to be a stretch 4 at the next level, good frame, solid rebounder in college, plays D. Wouldn't give us the size we were looking for, but... thoughts?

Looney? You'd have to be insane to want a guy like that! But I hear he has crazy hops ... He's gone mad with athleticism.

Somewhat of a callout article in the Republic today as well.Indy wrote:They went out of their way to point out how many TOs he is getting per game, and harped on what he needs to do (don't leave your feet, don't guess where guys might be, etc.). Rudy Gobert has great hands....
Oh God. It hurts so hard.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Don't we have a poster that lives up in Washington? I wonder if they have any insight on Domantas Sabonis. His numbers are ok, 10 & 7 on 67% shooting in 20 minutes and people seem to be really high on him. I can't find too many scouting videos right now.

Sabonis likes Gonzaga coach Few and has indicated in some comments a tendency to stay in Spokane another year. He turns 19 in May. He has some talent, but the problem is everybody will compare him to his dad. He's a bit more of a perimeter player.
Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
That averaged 0 3's per game? So he's a mid-range guy? The couple videos I've seen have him taking it to the basket routinely.LazarusLong wrote:Sabonis likes Gonzaga coach Few and has indicated in some comments a tendency to stay in Spokane another year. Re: 2015 NBA Draft
I was watching the Gonzaga game this past weekend and was going to post here. Maybe I got overly excited, but I was ready to guarantee taking that kid this year with our pick. His minutes have been limited, but that's a kid with a TON of potential. And not just really good player, but potential greatness like his father. He just stands out when he plays. He doesn't look like a college player, plays like a pro, has pro moves and tendencies. Needs to add weight for sure and may even end up 7ft tall, but should be an inside/out 4. You just love his fundamentals, you can tell he's got a high IQ and the basketball genes are there.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
If he even has 20% of his father's greatness I'd take a flyer on him. Any chance he's a late bloomer?ShelC wrote:I was watching the Gonzaga game this past weekend and was going to post here. I don't think he's a late bloomer, I think he's coming along fine. He chose to play at the college level, for better or worse. If he were playing overseas and 90% of the league hadn't seen him, he'd be a top 5 pick in most mocks.

Re: 2015 NBA Draft
I think he would do well to play another year in college. Gonzaga has a competitive schedule, so he'll get plenty of quality minutes.
Let's say he does declare. Would the Suns draft somebody who just turned 19? Would they fully commit to developing him? How would that play with the twins?

F the twins. Draft BPA. And with a 6-11 kid whose last name is Sabonis, I'm taking him.

I like Sabonis a lot as well.
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
not knowing the college game too well, i'm curious shel, what're the main differences between the two type games and what do you consider to be pro moves/tendencies? for instance i could never understand why a guy as dominant as shaq couldn't singlehandedly take lsu deep into the tourney during his final year (1st? 2nd? round exit as i recall)...ShelC wrote:I was watching the Gonzaga game this past weekend and was going to post here. Would Sabonis be available in the teens, in terms of being there when it's our turn to pick?
Re: 2015 NBA Draft
Pretty sure. He's not even on Givony's first mock. That could be because he just doesn't expect him to declare but that isn't how he usually works.Mori Chu wrote:Would Sabonis be available in the teens, in terms of being there when it's our turn to pick?
By the way, he has us taking Oubre at #13 now. I do like Oubre quite a bit. If Warren is our future though I still think we need to go Harrell at PF.
The guy in this draft I really want outside of Towns is Hezonja. I'd move one of Bledsoe or Knight and start him right away too. I think he's going to be a star.
Maybe we move Bledsoe to Sac for #6, Sauce Castillo and 2 crap contracts like Landry & Collison.
Knight/Collison
Hezonja/Goodwin/Bullock/Sauce
Warren/Marcus/Tucker
Harrell/Markieff/Landry
Len/Wright

Re: 2015 NBA Draft
I'm down on Harrell right now. Not nearly the rebounder I thought he was. If he doesn't have that, he's too small to do much damage in other ways. I think he'll be a solid pro, but I'm off the bandwagon.
