He's 7' tall and his best skill is outside shooting.Preacherpj wrote:Based on what? Those are fighting words for me.Flagrant Fowl wrote:Anyone but Kaminsky.
He's borderline unathletic by NBA standards.
He's the oldest player projected in the lottery.
Wisconsin runs a highly structured offense. (albeit, an effective one)
Bo Ryan has produced one NBA player of note in his career at Wisconsin: Devin Harris.
I don't dislike Kaminsky as a player in general. I just think 13 is way too early to take him.

- 7' footers who can shoot are really good things
- He's an OK athlete, he's not elite, but he's not a worse athlete than a guy like Bobby Portis.
- He's 22 years old. Maybe that makes him old in the lottery, but how is 22 years old a bad thing? He's 5 years away from his prime; if anything you are drafting a more mature kid.
- Wisconsin ran a lot of offense through Kaminsky, it was structured but they weren't running the Princeton offense or anything like that. They would P/R with Kaminsky or try to set him up in the post. Really not too different from a lot places.
- Not sure what Bo Ryan's track record has to do with Kaminsky. He typically doesn't recruit really well so he doesn't have the high-upside kids that end up in the NBA.
I think Kaminsky at #13 would be a home run, but sounds like a moot point anyway as he's likely gone before we pick.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

WCS (5 votes) is off the board.

I haven't seen enough of Portis to make a comparison.
My point is that the NBA is more free flowing. It's very rare for a team to run set plays like Wisconsin every time, hence Kaminsky won't have the same looks he had in college.
The Bo Ryan point is meant to be a compliment to him. He coaches players up, but they rarely improve past their college level ability.
In my opinion, his ceiling is Channing Frye, whom I think only went at #8 because of the poor draft class.

Stanley Johnson (2 votes, including mine) off the board to Detroit at #8.

I want us to trade up though and land 1 of the top 6. I don't see it happening though.
NAILED IT.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”
