Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
That was the draft rumor and any trade like that wouldve had to happen after the draft. I'm not sure what the exact rules are for trades involving draft picks and free agency, cap holds, etc but it's possible something could be worked out still. I just doubt it at this point given how Phil has defended the pick. They also drafted a pretty good guard that's ready to play now in Jerian Grant. They could still use Bledsoe but I also doubt they'll do anything soon until they've exhausted their FA options and know what they're doing with their money.
On a different note, for us...I think a guy like Tyson Chandler is the kind of veteran we could use on the roster. Not saying he'd sign here given our current state, but he's the kind of personality and lockerroom leader that could be huge for such a young roster. David West could be that guy too I think he'd be less impactful on the court.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
There's also been some speculation that teams are scared off by Bledsoe because he's supposedly fallen off a bit physically from where he was last summer when he was pushing for a deal.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I think there a couple of things in motion that might delay any trades that are in the works.
1. Getting Knight locked up.
2. The Morris twins extension kicks in soon (July 1?), up until this point, they are untradeable.
3. The Morris twins legal issues could possibly get settled soon. Hoping anyway.

Say what? Where are you hearing that? I've heard he's been in Phoenix working out hard.ShelC wrote:There's also been some speculation that teams are scared off by Bledsoe because he's supposedly fallen off a bit physically from where he was last summer when he was pushing for a deal.

Methinks that someone is trying to play hardball with the Suns...

Sporting News reported last week that the Suns had been shopping Bledsoe. But trading Bledsoe, according to league sources, will not prove to be easy for Phoenix. “There was a reason,” one general manager told SN, “that no one wanted to give him that ($70 million) contract last year. I think you still have to worry about his health. I think you worry about how coachable he is, too.”
If not Cousins, Willie Cauley-Stein? Whom else on the Kings is remotely worth Bledsoe? And would an article like this have leaks from both the Suns and whomever else they are dealing with? Games within games here. The Kings, one source said, are expected to express interest in Bledsoe. While Sacramento has been buried in rumors involving center DeMarcus Cousins, a league executive said the Kings have been far more focused on improving the point guard position. The Kings started Darren Collison at the position, but would like to move him into a backup role. And if Sacramento keeps Cousins, bringing in his former Kentucky teammate and good friend surely would help to keep him happy.

They want to move Gay, whom I'd take back and pair with Knight.
I'd like a larger deal to move the Morris Bros in the deal and take back Carl Landry or Thompson who have similar deals.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I'll take Gay, WCS, and Stauskas (total $18M) for Bledsoe, Goodwin & Tucker (total $20M). I'd throw in the Cleveland pick next year or our own lottery protected pick next year. We could still look into moving the Morris twins too.virtual9mm wrote:Methinks that someone is trying to play hardball with the Suns...

I would not do that. Rudy Gay is one of those players that would start over our young guys like Warren, but not be good enough to be the star we really need. Therefore, he would hinder the rebuilding process.carey wrote:I'll take Gay, WCS, and Stauskas (total $18M) for Bledsoe, Goodwin & Tucker (total $20M). I like WCS and Stauskas, but not enough to give up Bledsoe.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I'll take that trade as well. The problem is that this team would take the 7th seed without much hope for improvement -- Len, Warren or Stauskas would have to mature into superstars. It's still better than what we've got here.
Edit -- forgot about the potential for WCS to become Channing Frye on steroids, if he can play stretch-4 alongside Len, we're looking at an epic front line.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I really don't like the idea of Rudy Gay in a Suns uniform. He's an inefficient low-percentage chucker who would take shots away from more deserving players. Plus he makes way too much money.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
He makes $12M a year starting this year. That's less than Bledsoe by $2M. Also you probably haven't watched him lately. He played really well in Sacramento. 21/6/4 on 46% from the field.Mori Chu wrote:I really don't like the idea of Rudy Gay in a Suns uniform. Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
Yeah, I had to look at his FG percentages, and they were much improved from what they used to be. A legitimate #3 star on a title team, but probably not a #2.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
You can do that deal and still sign a FA by moving a Morris.virtual9mm wrote:Yeah, I had to look at his FG percentages, and they were much improved from what they used to be. A legitimate #3 star on a title team, but probably not a #2.

Gay's deal is actually pretty good. Basically owned 40mil over the next 3, he's right in his prime, turning 29 in August. And his game has evolved and become more well rounded.

Gotcha. Depending on the verdict, though, it might cost a pick to move Marcus. I'd like to hang onto Markieff, though.carey wrote:You can do that deal and still sign a FA by moving a Morris.virtual9mm wrote:Yeah, I had to look at his FG percentages, and they were much improved from what they used to be. How's his leadership? He'd be the main vet.ShelC wrote:Gay's deal is actually pretty good. Basically owned 40mil over the next 3, he's right in his prime, turning 29 in August. And his game has evolved and become more well rounded.

Would he sulk and would his play fall off? If so, he'd be that much harder to move down the line.Depending on the verdict, though, it might cost a pick to move Marcus. I'd like to hang onto Markieff, though.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
You could slide Gay over the 4 also to run.
Knight 6' 3"
Booker 6' 6"
Warren 6' 8"
Gay 6' 8"
Len 7' 1"

He's not that guy anymore, he's actually quite efficient. I think he'd thrive as a stretch 4, rebounds as well as Keef and is a better scorer/defender.Mori Chu wrote:I really don't like the idea of Rudy Gay in a Suns uniform. Love, Hurts.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
The Kings seem semi desperate to make Cousins happy. That is what the Suns need to take advantage of and ask for everything but the kitchen sink and Cousins.

They just read my tweet about the proposed deal with the Kings on KTAR. Lol.
