I think you're using "exciting" very liberally.ShelC wrote:I love it. If we don't get Aldridge, I wonder if Monroe is a backup plan? Or do we just roll with Markieff?
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
Monroe's DUI may have taken him off the Suns radar.

Oh yea, He did urinate on himself too.
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
According to the formula in Question 84 at capfaq.org, we just need to be within $5M of LMA's first year salary. The Three Felons get us there, numberswise, but that still leaves us with the problem of making an offer appealing to Portlamd.Indy wrote:And we have to come within 10%?Cap wrote:IINM, 30%*$67.9M = $20.4M.

It depends what his second choice is. If it's between us and the Blazers they have leverage. If it's between us and another team, and he tells the Blazers he's leaving regardless, then they'll take whatever trash we offer them. I wouldn't give up our whole young nucleus for him.Cap wrote:So what kind of a deal would it take to get Aldridge here? We're obviously ready to say goodbye to the Three Felons, but I doubt that would satisfy Portland. If they demand Alex, TJ and picks, where do you draw the line?
Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I don't think emptying the cupboard is a good idea. I'd draw the line at the Morris twins, Tucker, and 3 of our 1st rounders. We have 5 in the next 3 years so missing a draft is fine with me. If they want Goodwin it would be 2 first rounders. What would our back up PF be? I ask with all seriousness... Amare? Also our bench looks a little suspect. With this much money going around it will be hard to fill it out with vet minimum guys. A guy like Ed Davis could be key.

How did Ish hop back on our roster?
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Maybe Wright would resign with us after this turn of events. He was talking as willing to do it even before the Tyson deal. A rotation of LMA at 32 MPG Wright at 16, with Chandler and Len splitting 48 at center, would give us a great rotation upfront. You also missed Granger, who could masquerade as a smallball 4, especially next to Chandler. In fact, post-injuries Granger might be better suited to play as an undersized PF.carey wrote:I don't think emptying the cupboard is a good idea. There was some talk about him wanting to come back & that we might be interested. I don't really know what to do with 3rd PG duties atm unless we want Archie doing it again as a stop-gap.

3 years at 18mill total?
We could have matched that, what a bummer. It's hard to find an effective player willing to play within a minutes budget. Usually, as soon as they found some success, the AVERAGE player starts asking for above average treatment. See Green, Gerald.

If Brandan has indeed reached a deal, how much more capspace would we get by renouncing his bird rights?
If the S&T is for Chandler (I think the twins and a late pick for their troubles should suffice), is our current caps space plus the caps holds for Wright and Green, enough to take us within the 5mill range for an outright signing of LMA?
Then we use the Dragic TE to round up the roster, and we are set.

Interesting that the Chandler signed for exactly the amount of the twins combined salary. Dallas needs some younger blood. That s7t takes care of Chandler.Aztec Sunsfan wrote:If Brandan has indeed reached a deal, how much more capspace would we get by renouncing his bird rights?

We also loose Green's cap hold and Wright's cap hold. I think finding a taker for PJ would all that would be necessary to sign Alderidge.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
I respect your take, but I think that this is waaaaay too much to give PDX for a player who is forcing himself out of town as a UFA anyway. I'd rather keep the Morri if we're giving up THAT much. Why would the Suns need to include picks at all???carey wrote:I don't think emptying the cupboard is a good idea. I'd draw the line at the Morris twins, Tucker, and 3 of our 1st rounders. Indeed, I even think that salary dumping Markieff is something I'd really prefer not to do. Dump Tucker and Marcus if you need to. Keep Markieff -- massive massive bargain of a contract and has extremely high value for that reason.

Now, this is more reasonable, but I'd still want to get something out of Dallas. The cupboard there is potentially looking very, very bare, and the Morri would definitely be worth something to them.JCSunsfan wrote:Interesting that the Chandler signed for exactly the amount of the twins combined salary. The $5M amount is for a trade. To sign him outright, we'd need to fit his entire first-year salary under the cap.Aztec Sunsfan wrote:If Brandan has indeed reached a deal, how much more capspace would we get by renouncing his bird rights?

The TE has a cap hold unless renounced. We'll have to renounce it to make room for the FA activity. Then we use the Dragic TE to round up the roster, and we are set.

Re: Suns News: The Offseason (2015)
Blazers assistant Kim Hughes told a reporter "they lost Aldridge" which is why they've been revamping the roster and are going young. Doesn't mean he's definitely leaving Portland or coming to Phx, but signs do point to the Blazers working as if they know he's not coming back.
