I agree. I like him in small ball lineups at the 4.
Isn't that what he did most of the series against Chicago?

I worry about whether we will use Chandler correctly given that we utterly failed to properly utilize Chandler lite in Wright.

Per 36 Minutes last year -

Chandler - 66.6 FG%, 72.0 FT%, 4.0 ORb, 13.6 TRB, 1.3 Ast, 1.4 Blk, 2.7 PF, 12.1 Pts
Plumlee - 53.5 FT%, 47.8 FT%, 3.4 ORb, 9.6 TRb, 1.0 Ast, 2.0 BLK, 3.3 PF, 8.9 Pts

Yeah, that's a good comparison.

Chandler's impact goes beyond the court.

He pissed them off in NY because he held guys accountable.

That's exactly what this team is in desperate need of.

Given that LMA remains the unlikely outcome, what is our back-up plan? We would probably sign Chandler outright, unless we wanted to maintain that cap space for someone else (who? I don't see it).

Maybe we grab Amare at that point, the idea being that we could reintroduce some excitement. But he's not starter material at this point, given his limitations. Still, we could make him a fair offer. Otherwise, we could add Brandon Bass.

Would we keep Markieff? After everything? No point giving away one of (if not the) best contracts in basketball. There are a few teams that could use a starting PF, but we're one of them. We won't get an upgrade at the 4 by trading Markieff.

Thoughts?

I'd move Markieff but only for a few guys. Mirotic for example. Probably not even for a guy like Randle.

I think Chandler's locker rnoom presence will spcially have an impact on Kieff. A guy holding him accountable that's acually won something.

Exactly. They scapegoated him bigtime in NY to appease Melo. Chandler and even Artest were calling guys out (Melo, JR, Shump) for BSing, not playing D, not being focused and those guys didn't want to hear it. That's why the Knicks are where they are now.

If Markeiff is even on the team, I hope Chandler smacks him in the mouth right off the bat to let him know the BS won't be tolerated. But I doubt Keiff is on the team regardless of LMA. I think the relationship is ruined unless they can come to some sort of agreement where he shuts up, plays ball, raises his value and they move him during the year. All things being equal, he's a good fit skills-wise next to Chandler because he can pop and put it on the floor a bit.

I think the Knicks would be a good fit for him as well and we wouldn't have to take salary back but I don't think they'd want his salary beyond this year. They can take DLee and wipe his money off the books next summer and be FA players again.

If Dallas strikes out on DAJ and LMA, they can also take on DLee or sign a guy like Bass on a rental. They need a 5 more than a 4 like Kieff. Who knows tho. Pacers could use a 4 also with West gone.

Could put them in play for Aldridge with a legit center now. Although Dirk is there...

I heard they are capped out so they would need to trade away some significant salary to sign LMA.

Its definitely possible, but I think PG is a far bigger problem for them.

I guess it's possible. They'd have to trade a number of guys & none of them as good as Markieff Morris. DAJ will be making $20M not $13M so they would need to figure out how to accommodate another $19M. They'd have $14 or $15M in cap space and need to movie at least Felton. But then there problem is this: Dirk plays PF still and probably isn't coming off the bench and they don't have a starting caliber PG on that team and no money to get one....

Dallas? Nah they have like no salaries other than Parsons & Dirk. Felton & Harris only make like $4.5M a piece. The big issue is that DAJ will be making almost 1/3rd the cap and there's no starting PG on a team that will need one to even think about being competitive in the West.
