Well, the Hornets just went out and trumped them with a Hansbrough. Tyler Hansbrough.

Indiana, Boston, and Utah have often competed for whitest team in the NBA honors. I always love seeing one of those teams draft a white guy inexplicably high or sign one to a surprisingly rich FA deal. Old habits die hard.

That is funny. I'm curious why they even ask that question anymore. It's not like Kobe is still an elite player. He is playing out his contract and will probably retire because his own ego can't except that he doesn't have it anymore, IMO.

I don't understand this Cleveland / Portland trade. Cleveland sends the Haywood contract and Mike Miller along with 2 2nd rounders to Portland for a TPE? What the heck does Portland get out of it? They pick up $2.8M of Miller's contract just for 2 late 2nd rounders?

They weren't going to do anything with the cap space and if their payroll is too low, they still have to cut a check for the difference.

This gives Cleveland more time to use money. The contract was guaranteed after August 1st. Instead, now they have two trade exceptions, one of them sizable, to use over one year with the bonus of being able to break it however they want.

I guess they shopped around that contract hard af but nobody offered anything remotely close in quality to the huge impact it would have had on the books.

By the way, I thought PJ was a good candidate to be sent Cleveland's way.

From Portland, they purchased two seconds for 3M. Llull did cost Morey 2M. Somebody will offer cash for those, and if they don't, you take a flyer on something.

The Boston Celtics offered four first-round picks to the Charlotte Hornets for the chance to move up from No. 16 to No. 9. The Celtics were targeting Justise Winslow while the Hornets were settled on taking Frank Kaminsky.

The Celtics offered the 16th pick, No. 15 (acquired in a prearranged contingency deal with the Atlanta Hawks), one unprotected future Brooklyn pick, and a future first-rounder from either the Memphis Grizzlies or Minnesota Timberwolves.

Some members of the Hornets' front office wanted to do the deal with the Celtics, but Michael Jordan preferred Kaminsky over first rounders outside the lottery.

“If it was such a no-brainer for us, why would another team want to do it?” said Rich Cho.
This is just insane. MJ turned down 4 picks, including an UNPROTECTED pick from a Brooklyn team in free fall, just to take Kaminsky?

Edit: And what the hell was Ainge thinking?

Ainge was thinking Winslow is going to be one hell of a player, and he may be right.

As for Kaminsky, I just don't see it. MJ isn't exactly known for his drafting savvy.

MJ is known for drafting goofy white guys. When you hear Morrison do you think of basketball or music?

Well surprise, surprise. Tristan Thompson hasn't agreed to a contract with the Cavs after all. Previously it was reported that they had a five year, $80 million deal in place. Rich Paul must have figured out he can get more money. Plus, the negotiations are dragging on through the summer. Sound familiar?

Ugh. Tristan Thompson is one guy I'd want way less than Markieff, believe it or not. Especially with the salary that he seems to be demanding.
