If you wouldn't take Lebron, or Kobe, or ANY player on the Suns if he'd win us a title, you're crazy. I'd take any player in NBA history living or dead if they'd have brought us a ring. Rings trump everything.

Also, Lebron is not THAT reprehensible. Yes, The Decision was shitty and horrible. But it wasn't so much that I hated Lebron. I hated that all the best players could just join forces. I hated that they'd basically get 3-4 guaranteed rings by taking the easy way out. Lebron is a big part of that, but it was the whole group of them I was mad at. If Lebron ever said, "I think I've finished my time here in Miami. I'm looking for my next opportunity," you better darn well believe I'd be first in line begging for him to join the Suns.

If Kerr coaches the Knicks, does that mean that they have a chance of luring Goran to New York? Otherwise, I am thinking that the Dragon would be a Suns lifer...

Maybe Sarver can trade Dragic and a draft pick to the Knicks for Aaron Brooks.

Goran SHOULD be a lifer, but I (like INF) think that McDonough is going to ship him out. I'm kind of dreading it actually.
Go Suns!

Boy I hope you guys are wrong. Goran has earned the honor of being a Suns lifer.

I don't think that's happening. Even if it were the right bball move, Goran's become the face of the team. It would be a pretty big PR hit.

It'd have to be a hell of a haul (Love?) to give up Goran.

Dragic's value will probably never be as high as currently. But trading him would make 13-14 the most futile season ever. EVER.

And realistically, what can get you a package around Dragic? I am not afraid to deam big, but you can't get via trade Kevin Durant, LeBron, etc. Or Aldridge, Wall, Cousins, Griffin, George.

Kevin Love. Sure. But he has showed an inability to carry a team to the playoffs despite his crazy numbers. What I mean is that what you want is to add him to an already potent team. Goran is the best player on this team by a wide margin. Using him to acquite Love would negate in a good chunk what you gain with Love. This is a top SG who can also play incredibly well at PG. And whose defense, as poor as it may be, is not at Love's level, if for no other reason because he is not a PF/C.

Bledsoe should be the odd man out, but it doesn't matter. I think the Wolves are going to be recklessly stubborn and Love will walk for nothing.

I don't think McD is looking to move Dragic, but if the opportunity presents itself to go get a star PF then you HAVE to consider it. Same goes for Bledsoe.

Personally, I'm gonna need to get SDC's take on this before I can make up my mind...

Absolutely no way the Suns SHOULD move Dragic for anyone short of a true superstar. He means more to this particular team than Love, let alone the likes of Wall or Westbrook. Indeed, I wouldn't be surprised to see OKC offer Westbrook for him.

Since the Suns aren't going to get Durant or LeBron, the Suns OUGHT to keep him.

My only concern was that Dragic might opt out and join his oldest supporter (Kerr) in NYC. Unlikely because he's so settled in here, and that there are other big fans of his around (esp. Sarver).

Edit: If the Suns ought to trade a point guard, they should sign-and-trade Bledsoe.

Love would be more valuable to the Suns than Dragic, c'mon now.

I'm not sure if my comments fit with topic but here goes. Does anyone think we could be doing a lot more in terms of trying to utilize the development league for our own benefit. Look at how Houston use their assigned team to try new strategies - which was to shoot huge amounts of 3pters. Golden state got their team closer to Oakland to keep closer taps on it.

I just think there are so many things we could do to help ourselves improve and be more innovative. Like:
- Have the team playing a similar system to ours to help integrate younger players faster. Would be more beneficial that just putting a rook into a completely different bball system for a few random games. It would make it much easier to see their growth and potential in the big league.
- Experiment with different strategies
- I dont know how much control we could have over rosters, but as well as young prospects and potential hidden gems, add a few veteran journey men types with a good head on their shoulders and development type coaches to help mentor our draft picks and allow them to make longer stints in the d-league to develop some consistency and confidence. Several times I've seen a player go to that league, show some flashes and come back and still ride the pine endlessly. We could at least experiment a little more with this.

- Potentially developing such a support system would be highly attractive to players who just missed out on the draft but with a little time and development could have greater potential. Yes the system doesnt guarantee we get to keep them, but it probably gives us a better chance.

Basically think of it as an extended summer league team with the hope it makes us a more innovative, knowledgable team who are able to develop draft picks faster - especially the mid first rounder types we often seem to get.

sorry for another long post

In short, YES.

Are the Suns the exclusive partner to their d-league affiliate, are do they still share partnership with another team?

I agree. They should have the team somewhere nearby. Maybe Prescott and the Toyota Center would be good. I think they could really do some good things with it, if they had the control of the coaches and the team. I suppose it much be pretty expensive to have, but could be a tremendous benefit if used correctly.

Not with Dragic being the face of the franchise, beloved around these parts.

What I would REALLY like to see, though, is Dragon-Love. Dragon drives and dishes to a Lovely 3-pointer. Bledsoe would also work well with this combination.
