Markieff should get fined for that comment. It's detrimental to the franchise and the sad thing is that either he can't see or doesn't care that such stuff is bad for him as well. Does he understand that since he has a contract he needs to be traded? If he wants out so bad, maybe he should give up all his guaranteed money and become an UFA. Then he can choose wherever he wants to play.

Btw, that Gambadoro tweet is so childish and unprofessional.

Bonus trade:

Phoenix gets: Nene, Kelly Oubre
Washington gets: Kieff, PJ Tucker, Archie

Problem is Washington wants cap space for Durant. Partial solution is finding a third team to swallow Humphries for expiring crap. Or simply taking Washington's small pieces plus Oubre. Like Webster, Humphries and Oubre for those three Suns.

I guess there's always the Ilyasova(+pick?) for Kieff that Bill Simmons tweeted when Marcus got dumped.

Anyway, it is time for the FO to remove this alleged mindset of wanting to keep the player. He can't make the opening roster.

The Phoenix Suns reportedly have no plans to deal the disgruntled Markieff Morris

Ball Don't Lie

...

Phoenix is under no obligation to flip Markieff. He has four years and $32 million left on his deal, and if he makes an outright trade demand he leaves himself liable to be fined by the NBA. If he fails to show up for camp and/or games, the Suns won’t have to pay him for his chosen time off. He genuinely has to put his money where his mouth is if he wants no part of Phoenix from here on out.

That isn’t to say that the Suns are lousy with leverage, here.

We don’t doubt for a second that if Phoenix could even deal Morris for a reasonable approximation of his stretch-four talents that they would. The GMs running 29 other NBA teams, however, are quite aware of the Suns’ situation regarding Markieff, and they’re not bending over backward to take Phoenix’s problem off of their hands. Even if his trade demands weren’t so glaringly obvious, a heavy chunk of the NBA landscape would want no part in dealing for a player who clashed with so many last season, while racking up 15 technical fouls along the way.

Still, with the official training camp one month away, it will have to be Markieff Morris, and not the Phoenix Suns, making the tough decision. He has to decide if he wants to swallow his pride, cash in those checks, and return to the team. Because, to hear the Suns tell it, he ain’t going anywhere any time soon.
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Funny, I was thinking about a trade for Oubre as well. The only caveat being - I'd try to send him to Boston. Olynyk and Sully would be my targets.

I see no reason why Washington in particular wouldn't be all over trying to trade for Keef. IMO, it's a perfect fit.

There's a solid deal to be made somewhere. I think Keef's a good player, but I really don't think he and TJ should share a front court. I just hope we can get something close to fair value in a trade.

As already discussed, Sully is scary with his injury and conditioning issues in the light of a new contract. Olynyk is very interesting given that we have Chandler and Len to cover his weak ass but would rather have Oubre.

My main targets for a trade would be Washington and Toronto and Detroit (even before Marcus).

Indiana, LAL and Philly could use Kieff too but asset availability and/or frnachise direction is a concern. Houston as well but I am not in the mood of getting fleeced by Morey, and you know he is not going to make the trade if he doesn't pillage us value wise.

I agree with your targets. I too don't want to deal with Morey. Maybe we could take Ariza, but he won't give up Donatas and I don't want Terrence Jones. Furthermore - I really don't see a great need for the Rox for Keef, and so, I doubt they'd give us the best package.

Actually the more I think about it the more I believe Houston makes a lot of sense. Kieff would be their third-fourth option (depending on Lawson) and gives them the midrange weapon they lack. In theory Kieff's strength is against Morey ball, but he'd provide them with a complete offense and another clutch option.

Their problem is indeed matching the contract. Ariza-Beverly are key role players and I guess Brewer is close in value to them. Besides, he just resigned, like McDaniels.

Jones, Dekker, Capela don't make enough, but I guess it could be arranged once they can move Harrell and/or Thornton. Those prospects don't entice me too much though, but I'd try to flip Jones elsewhere.

I like the Charlotte idea (Cody Zeller).

Gambo has made this whole situation 10x worse.

We've seen alot of bad actors in professional sports--murderers, rapists etc--but this situation is the supreme example of CHILDISHNESS and pettiness on the part of the athletes and the idiots that talk about them on the radio.

Can't see how the salaries can work in a Houston trade. They are really locked in right now. Maybe something could happen after some of their roster is actually eligible to be traded.

With Donatas, Lawson and Dwight on their roster, I don't see the Rox having a need for Keef. I'd rather go to the bigs down low - if they're healthy. I guess that's the big plus with Keef - you know he'll be on the court.

I really don't like Gambo's tone in his messages to/about Markieff. Totally unprofessional for someone who claims to be a "journalist." And he's probably ruining any slim chance we had of repairing the relationship between the team and Markieff.

I'm with you on Gambo's unprofessionalism but why would we ever want to repair the rift? He has repeatedly said he doesn't want to be a part of this team. Why try and make him happy now? You can't reward tantrums or placate guys like this.

I agree, but I think you want to look like a classy franchise. A team that prods the local media to rip on current players does not come off looking classy. Even if the Suns team didn't tell Gambo to say these things, they should tell him to clam up. He isn't making the team or city look classy or welcoming to players. I know Markieff has done plenty wrong, but I think you want to be the bigger "person" when you're in a situation like this.

Gambo is a total idiot.

These tweets back and forth to Kief just further explain it. His jokes are not even funny or insulting because they make no sense

He is almost as bad as Dan Bickley's pukka shell necklace. Phx has some terrible sports radio people or maybe they are all terrible in every state idk

Gambo also needs to realize that Markieff is innocent until proven guilty. Yes, he probably did it, but a journalist should know better than to repeatedly mock and taunt a player for a crime he *may* have committed.

Twice to be exact. And the second time was long after Gambo started his shtick about it.
