I'd rather have Leuer and Telly going into next year than Jones - primarily because of how much each will cost (Leuer will give us the best bang for the buck). I really, really don't think Jones is a good fit for us. I mean, do you guys want to pay $12 mil per for another bona fide asshole, except that this one only applies in about 2/3 of the games? There are teams out there with big enough holes that Jones makes sense for them (looking at you, Wizards), but we're not one of them.

If the Bulls are looking to make changes, I'm willing to bend over backwards to take Portis off their hands.

Has Jones been known as a difficult personality? I don't follow the Rockets besides the stats for fantasy basketball purposes, so I am not up to date on their actual chemistry issues. I just know that he is fairly brittle and gets sidelined for the freakiest injuries. He seems to have the talent to justify a swap with Kieff. Dunno about the mental stuff, and would love to get some more insight.

I'd love to somehow pry Covington from Philly. Good young player on a great contract. Can play the 3 or 4. I don't think they'd trade him for Kieff, though.

IIRC, Covington's contract ends this year, which makes him no longer that attractive. I do like his game, but I imagine he is looking for a payday after this summer, and might command Bledsoe/Knight level money after all is said and done. If he's still on that sub-million contract, then I'm afraid there is no way the 76ers would move him...

Gotcha... I guess for everything Hinkie has done wrong, at least he's had that one win. I've seen a couple of 76er games, and I love what Covington does. Can't see a scenario though.

I was thinking that today as well. If there's a low first round pick or high second round coming our way, I'd do it. but I doubt Memphis is willing.

Yes to Z-Bo. He brings a dimension we don't really have on the team, and it would be good for the development of the young guards to have a real post threat to play with.

If true, I'm sure it'd be paraphrasing a bit because telling a guy "You'll never play for the suns again this season" is a bit aggressive, especially if a deal isn't locked in. If he doesn't play tonight (assuming he's still on the roster) I'd be more willing to believe it.

McD was just on with Gambo. The most significnat comment he made was that they are always looking to improve the team (normal GM-speak) but they are willing to put more of their assets in play to make a present and long term improvement to the team, to get to championship contention level.

IOW. They are in the market for a star player NOW and they are willing to part with at least some of their hoard of picks to get that player.

So. Look at who might be on the market and draw your own conclusions.

Why the hurry at this point? It is highly doubtful that the result from a Markieff trade is fixing this team.

The worst is already behind us. Markieff has been effectively removed from the court, is not making any noise about it and everybody knows he is a good player that's readily available.

There is no need to accept lowball offers. What I really wonder is the price McD has set and the direction he wants to pursue.

An expiring vet seems pointless if doesn't come with a future asset attached to it. We are even in worse shape than last season and a rent offers questionable utility.

A vet under contract could make sense if it is the right guy to invest in flexibility. I see ZBo has been mentioned. Kieff-Weems make it a wash from a cap standpoint. It's true it gives the Suns a weapon they totally lack.

I agree with this take, but I guess I'm willing to go one step further and take back two second rounders, as long as one of them is in the mid 30s range. But no thanks to any expiring contracts please. Our problems go deeper than something a half season rental would be able to fix and I'm not looking forward to another summer free agency saga.

I'd be willing to be they kicked the tires on Cousins, offering up Archie and Len, along with Kieff. I'm sure Tucker's name has been thrown out there but he probably doesn't have much, if any, value. I don't think (or at least hope they wouldn't) have any conversations involving Booker.

It's a pipedream, but even going back to the summer, I think this team is pretty well aligned to take on a guy like Durant. Then, MAYBE, you entertain a deal involving Booker. Something like Len, Archie/Booker, Kieff for Durant. I don't know why OKC would do it unless they felt Durant was going to leave and wanted to get something for him.

I think it's more beneficial for the franchise for the players to get some exposure to the playoffs and get the 15th or 16th pick than to miss it again and get the 13th of 14th. That's why a short term move would be in our best interests.
