Markieff Morris Watch
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I am with you there. Like I said, if we end up keeping both, they should rarely play together.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
They sure have value.
Bledsoe is living up to his mini LeBron label and Knight is one of the youngest players to give you 20+ppg behind only Wiggins, Davis and Kawhi (count in Bradley Beal and McCollum if you will, at a tad under 20ppg).
Add to that the fact that they are locked into more than reasonable long term contracts and it is not hard to see teams willing to give up real assets.
Their problem is not raw talent, it is the compounded low IQ and inability to make an offense work so they are probably better off separated and put alongside a more traditional SG.
Questionable coaching doesn't help and they sure could use more support from better starters starting with PJ Tucker, but they still commit too many mistakes that lead to a dumb brand of basketball and I am not sold on the idea that they can improve enough on their decision making to turn things around as the main cogs, or even second and third options.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
That's my problem. I think Bledsoe is much more valuable, but he is already 26. I don't think your judgement gets much better much later in your career. Maybe if he really focuses on it during practice, but I am not sure you can learn that this late.I am not sold on the idea that they can improve enough on their decision making to turn things around as the main cogs, or even second and third options.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
The problem is that if the Suns make a habit of signing free agents and then trading them away, it will get much harder to sign free agents in the future. They already have that reputation a little with the IT situation. But they also do with the Marcus signing.Indy wrote:That's my problem. I think Bledsoe is much more valuable, but he is already 26. Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I don't think agents are going to hold the Marcus situation against us. Also, Dragic came out and said he wanted to be traded, which facilitated the IT trade (in theory). And it is easier to get away with it when you continue to suck.JCSunsfan wrote:The problem is that if the Suns make a habit of signing free agents and then trading them away, it will get much harder to sign free agents in the future. Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I don't buy that. Players go where the money is. Didn't affect LA or Tyson when they were considering us.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
True, but we overpaid for Tyson. LA is a good point.ShelC wrote:I don't buy that. Players go where the money is. Didn't affect LA or Tyson when they were considering us.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
Exactly. He went where the money was AND we made him feel wanted. Did the same with IT and things change, but it's part of the business. I don't think we have bad rep, unless you ask Goran

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I think they might a little. However, trading Bledsoe or Knight would be worse.Indy wrote:I don't think agents are going to hold the Marcus situation against us. Re: Markieff Morris Watch
Goran's stats and his visibility has tanked since he went to Miami. But he's getting paid!
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

I think it all depends on the narrative around the transaction.JCSunsfan wrote:I think they might a little. Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I just can't see us trading Chandler, Knight or Bledsoe. And the only way I see us trading Booker is if he returns a star.
No one else would shock me.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
The Knicks are supposedly looking for a scoring guard, which I've always said they needed opposite Melo. They had interest in Knight this offseason but I also think Jennings is very much on their radar.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
Jennings is actually finally returning from his achilles injury on Saturday with the Pistons D-League affiliate: http://espn.go.com/nba/story/_/id/14390 ... don-injuryShelC wrote:The Knicks are supposedly looking for a scoring guard, which I've always said they needed opposite Melo. Jennings is in the final year of an $8M/yr deal.

I would be shocked if they traded Booker. I think they can see that coming back to bite them 2-3 years from now.Shabazz wrote:I just can't see us trading Chandler, Knight or Bledsoe. And the only way I see us trading Booker is if he returns a start.

As for the rest, I agree. But we can dream!
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
OK. I would agree with that. If it is clearly a deal for a superstar, if the player traded away is OK with it, etc.Indy wrote:

I meant to write "if he returns a 'Star.'" But I think it's highly unlikely we trade him.Indy wrote:I would be shocked if they traded Booker. I knew what you meant. I would be shocked still, because I can't think of a star on the market that would be worth it.Shabazz wrote:I meant to write "if he returns a 'Star.'" Absolutely. Though it's unlikely either will be an All-Star this season, they'll both be in the conversation of guys who just missed the cut. They're AASs, and young, and may be ASs in the future.Indy wrote:The more I read things around the league, it really looks like both our PGs have quite a bit of value...ShelC wrote:I keep trying to work out deals involving us, Orlando, NY, Atlanta, Houston with all the PGs being swapped around along with Markieff, Tobias Harris, and other parts. Something like Bledsoe and Kieff to Orlando, Knight and Lawson to NY, Calderon to Houston, we get Schroeder and Harris.
