I just talked about previous Suns guards and was just commenting that we always find a reason to complain about whoever we have, even the top ones in history, myself included. I don't know what you are talking about with the comparison stuff. If it makes you happy I say go for it.

"We" have never made a trade in the entire history of the NBA and never will.Indy wrote:What is it about trying to improve the team that makes you so sad? Is it you just feel we should just be happy with what we have and take it? Just curious, and seriously asking.Trade talk= Waste of time
Knowing Markieff's story and knowing he, the Suns and the fans want him traded makes me ok with some trade talk because it's an obvious situation but, when it gets to the point every year when 80% of the team gets listed in endless trade scenarios involving 80% of the league it just starts to annoy me. The team we have is the team we have until somebody in the "Suns" organization makes a trade and during the season you are lucky if one guy gets traded, not 80% of the team every year mid season. It's like going to see your favorite band and having everyone around you talk about how much better the band would be if they traded the guitarist for some other guitarist and the chick singer isn't as hot as some other singer, so they should get her instead. The bass player is a little sloppy. If they only had this other guy from this other band they would be so much better. Dave thinks they should trade the bass player and the guitarist for the guitarist and bass player in his other favorite band. I know it shouldn't bother me but, sometimes it does. Just ignore me.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
Nodack: Dreams of a better future via trades, draft picks, and internal improvement are basically all that we have. The current season is mostly a loss, so rosterbation and trade fantasies are all we've got.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I hear you and understand. My strategy is to get behind the team we have whatever it may be and accept it for what it is since I have no control over who they hire. You guys get into the fantasy trade thing. if it makes you happy then you should do it.
I guess it bothers me most because I try to get behind the team and support them even when I know they aren't that good but, most of the fans of the team here seem to just be interested in trading everybody on the team year after year good times or bad and don't seem to have any loyalty to the players we have ever which kind of bugs me. To each his own I guess.
I have been pretty cool about this stuff this year and have kept my complaints to a minimum. I made a short comment and Indy asked so, I answered.

Thanks for answering Dack. I understand to an extent. I am sure this is one area where we won't see eye to eye on. Good thing we have the politics thread! :p
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
Nobody sees eye to eye on everything. Lots of different people thinking different things for different reasons. No right or wrong.

Rosterbation, I like that term.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
we actually do have control over who they hire and put on the court, its called financial support, if we show it for a garbage product, we'll keep getting it. If we don't, they will make changes until we like what we see and support them financially again.Nodack wrote:I hear you and understand. No fans = no money = Sarver doesnt make a profit, do not support a mediocre product.

I hear that as well. The way I see it now is that we decided to rebuild from the ground up and have a bunch of young talent that isn't quite ready for prime time. It seems to me a lot of teams have to do that from time to time when their big horses have moved on. If we decide we are only going to support winning teams and boycott the team until we are contenders then that seems like a perfect way to destroy a team. No support= no money= no team. If I thought they weren't trying to put together a winning team I might consider a boycott. I don't believe that to be the case.DrSublime wrote:we actually do have control over who they hire and put on the court, its called financial support, if we show it for a garbage product, we'll keep getting it. I will get slammed for this for "comparing" but, when Nash was drafted he was considered good and promising but, nobody in their wildest dreams thought he would end up having the career he did. We had two star guards already and didn't need him and traded him away. If the Suns knew then what he would turn into they probably wouldn't have traded him. That's the thing with young guys. Sometimes the #1 pick fizzles and sometimes sometimes the guy taken in the second round turns into a Super Star. Young players need time to mature. We are critical of our young players because they make mistakes and don't have all the skills down yet, not to mention loses suck.
Expecting a young team to be great isn't realistic. Boycotting your young team because they aren't winning enough during a rebuilding process isn't realistic and counter productive. Always wanting to trade half the team away at all times isn't realistic IMO. We fans have zero patience. Yes I know we haven't won a Championship ever and we have been patient fans for decades therefore we deserve a Championship team now. That might be true but, it isn't going to happen now.
The Warriors are real good and will probably win it again. Those in need of a winner should just migrate to supporting them. Boycott the Suns and after Sarver is ruined somebody else will buy the team or it will be moved to a State that is capable of supporting an NBA team. The Seattle Suns? Doesn't work so well. Maybe the Seattle Drizzles.

I actually think it works pretty well. In Seattle, you rarely see the sun like we rarely see wins.Nodack wrote:The Seattle Suns? Doesn't work so well. Maybe the Seattle Drizzles.

They should move the Memphis team there and rename them to the Drizzlies.

I'd he fine if they were crap for a few years (ala Minnesota) to try and grab premiere talent.Nodack wrote:I hear that as well. But this middle of the road stuff w/ third and fourth tier players (Bledsoe/Knight) as your premiere guys is just.. BORING and im not paying the high prices and dealing with crowds for a boring and mediocre team with no real direction, and this has been how the team has been run since Sarver bought it,.. he got lucky with Nash and D'Antoni at the helm in the early years, it was great... but he nickled and dimed out team out of contention and now we are the perennial team who either is an 8 seed or just misses the playoffs.. this is not how you get to be a good team in the NBA, this is how you loose your fans interest. Spurs got Duncan / Robinson by taking, Cav's got LeBron by tanking, Thunder got Durant/Westbrook and TWolves got Wiggins(Love)/Towns by being bad,
The Cardinals have mine, D'Backs just took it back with Grienke/Shelby, Coyotes never had it because I dont get hockey, but the Suns were my 1st sports love, and they've lost it, this middle of the road crap will not get it back.
They need to find their "Barkley" for this era, a big time player with big time personality that can carry the team and gather interest outside of just sports for them to be relevant again, the competition in town is better, they are not the only show anymore, they have to complete w/ the 11-2 Cardinals and the D'Backs making waves.

Re: Markieff Morris Watch
I agree with this. I just want to add that, the most frustrating thing for me is not so much the current level of talent. As Nodack said, these guys are young and we need to give them time to develop. What pisses me off most about Sarver is that he ruined the culture and reputation that the Colangelos spent years to build. I remember a time when players were willing to take less money to come play for the Suns despite this being a smaller market with less fan support and sponsorship dollars, and that happened before Nash made everyone look great. Danny Manning anyone?DrSublime wrote:

It is difficult enough as it is to build teams in a smaller market. Please Sarver, stop handicapping yourself.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
We used to be a franchise that had real class. It is no longer true.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
To be fair, guys came here on smaller deals with a handshake deal they would get more next time. So it wasn't for less money, per se, just more security.
Re: Markieff Morris Watch
And Sarver isn't cheap. We complained quite a bit about how much we paid Bledsoe and many others. He is penny-wise, pound-foolish, but some of that blame has to go to the people around him that advise him. I will knock him for not getting strong basketball opinions around him to advise him (or not listening to what he has).
