Suns News: Week 17 2/15-2/21
Re: Suns News: Week 17 2/15-2/21
If Watson has a mind for the Xs and Os and can adjust, re-adjust, call out plays on the fly and know what the other teams are doing against us, I'm fine with him. But if he's just going to be a cheerleader/motivator with no Xs and Os/coaching acumen, he can take that BS and go coach a HS team. Too many times former players (and I'm not saying this is the case with Watson) think they can walk the sidelines and just manage the game while the assistants do the work.
We don't need a motivator/babysitter to pat these guys on the back and keep their spirits up while they're messing up and we're losing games. That stuff gets old when you're racking up losses. Players want to be coached, want to be held accountable. I'd rather start off with a hardass to whip these guys into shape and then loosen the reins once they get it.
But that's just me.

Also...and this is kind of weird to me but this was posted on Suns.com.
http://www.nba.com/suns/retorter/suns-r ... sarver-did
It's a nice article about Sarver giving shirts out to kids at a Suns event. Now, the cynic that I am, some of this seems a little off and even tacky. I'm not suggesting any of this was really done on purpose and reported on to make Sarver look good during a very bad time for the organization. But the Suns reporter, who writes for Suns.com mind you, starts off with a quote about how a man's true character is what he does when no one's watching...and then goes on to watch and report what a great thing Sarver is doing - and sounds surprised by it! The whole tone just seems off - like a backhanded compliment, while simultaneously trying to play up Sarver's kind gesture. Again, not saying this was done on purpose or they're trying to spin anything, just a very weird article IMO.

Did you listen to the interview, Shel? He talks openly about holding players accountable, especially Booker.ShelC wrote:If Watson has a mind for the Xs and Os and can adjust, re-adjust, call out plays on the fly and know what the other teams are doing against us, I'm fine with him. The question is whether he is a talker or a doer.Indy wrote:Did you listen to the interview, Shel? Well you need to be both to be a good coach (especially for a young team).

Love Pressey. True PG, a bit undersized but can play. Spent a few years with the Celts and has bounced around.

Didn't hear the interview but holding players accountable and being able to come out of a TO with a well drawn up and executed play are sometimes two different things. And why is Booker being singled out? Booker's the least of our problems. Hold Knight accountable, hold Archie accountable. Hold Teletovic accountable on defense. Let's not go all Byron Scott here.
Re: Suns News: Week 17 2/15-2/21
That is awesome! This season would be truly dreadful if it weren't for Book. He at least gives me hope.Superbone wrote:* Cole Mickelson’s Stone Cole Fact o’ the Day: Devin Booker is the only player in NBA history to record a 30-point game, a 10-rebound game and a 10-assist game before turning 20 years old.

He basically said Booker is our best player, our star player, and if you aren't holding them accountable your don't have a leg to stand on.
He also talked about not having any side conversations, which I loved. There isn't a "hey so and so, come over here so we can have a private chat" doesn't happen. Everything that needs to be said, is said with the team there.

Book goes 5th in this re-draft. Suns wound up with Herozinga at 13th. Funniest quipt is Harper saying Herozinga can get more minutes if he can avoid being choked by Morris. haha

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Humphries is averaging 18 and 12 for us. Guess we won that trade without the pick.

While Markieff went 6 pts and 2 boards for the Wiz and then 4/3 so far tonight with 5:40 remaining.JCSunsfan wrote:Humphries is averaging 18 and 12 for us. Guess we won that trade without the pick.

Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

He's a genuinely nice dude, though. His sense of humor is a bit unsophisticated, but I think he does what they want him to do there. He runs the social media account and the website and has to appeal to a pretty broad audience.Danimal wrote:it was that fat fuck eszpo wasn't it.
