If you can find a matchup at PF that Deng can guard then that lineup is great. Amare? well, we know he isn't guarding anybody so it doesn't matter where you put him.carey wrote:It's very interesting what they are doing. Their starting line up the other night against Denver was Dragic-Wade-JJ-Deng-Amare. Now Amare only played 11 min and everyone else in the starting line-up played over 30. Whiteside got the rest of the C minutes at 31 and their 2 rookies Winslow and Richardson each got 30 a piece. This Richardson kid can play. The Bobster wrote:He's playing the same as he was in Brooklyn except he's shooting 57% instead of 41%. Have you seen the numbers he is putting up with Miami through 10 games? Kind of surprising.

Miami has a corpse of a frontcourt. Haslem, Anderson (they traded him mid season though), Amare are all old, Bosh and McRoberts have a lot of health problems. I guess that's why Deng is their PF now.
Re: College Basketball: 2015-2016
If Wade could hit 3s or meshed well with Dragic, that would be a really interesting team.

Surprisingly, Amare ranks like 6th among PF in defensive rpm, ESPN's new stat. Not sure how accurate it is though. In support, almost all of the highly thought of defensive players score at the top of the ranking. The Bobster wrote:If you can find a matchup at PF that Deng can guard then that lineup is great. Somebody else posted it yesterday, but I too could be interested in Luol Deng, for the right price. Problem is this is his last relevant contract. Marvin Williams is turning into an ok 3D 3/4 as well, as incredible as it sounds.

I don't think Amare even plays PF.Split T wrote:Surprisingly, Amare ranks like 6th among PF in defensive rpm, ESPN's new stat. Not sure how accurate it is though. In support, almost all of the highly thought of defensive players score at the top of the ranking.

I would love me some Marvin Williams... Really solid pro who does whatever is asked of him, from everything I've seen/read a chemistry plus. Deng is great but he logged way too many minutes in his younger years, so maybe not Deng.Ring_Wanted wrote:Somebody else posted it yesterday, but I too could be interested in Luol Deng, for the right price. Marvin Williams is a good idea. Dwight Powell is also a free agent, though you have to think Dallas would be willing to spend to keep one of the only young players on their roster.
Mark Cuban may have won a championship, but since that time, he's managed that team into the ground.

Watch this from last year:pickle wrote:Thanks Bobster. I'll see if I can find this on the Kindle store. The Bobster wrote:Pickle - Read INDENTURED: THE INSIDE STORY OF THE REBELLION AGAINST THE NCAA by Joe Nocera and Ben Strauss. I think it'll answer a lot of your questions. College football and basketball are basically cash cows that bring money and prestige to the universities and their athletic departments. There are literally BILLIONS of dollars involved and they had to be shamed into giving their athletes enough food so they don't go to bed hungry or have to scrape up their own money to eat. Where colleges have the players sign away their rights to their image in exchange for their college scholarship and then tell the players that can't make a penny of their association with college sports or they'll be ineligible. Where some coaches make millions in salary and from endorsements, television shows and having their players wear a specific brand of shoes, but a player's scholarship is renewed on a year-to-year basis, depending on the whim of the coaching staff and athletic department.
It's basically unbelievable what the NCAA gets away with.

I'm not sure I necessarily agree with that statement on Cuban. The team hasn't had a lot of success, but they've been in the post season every year, and I have to respect him for continuing to give Dirk a chance at being at being competitive, even though everyone knows that without another superstar that team is unlikely to get over the top. That sort of respect and dedication to your franchise cornerstone in his twilight years will go a long way towards recruiting another game changer when Dirk finally hangs them up.OE32 wrote:Marvin Williams is a good idea. Anyone else notice there seems to be a butt load of centre prospects in this draft? Many of them from overseas also. Not many with high ceilings, but I feel now would be a good time to grab a backup C or even or draft and stash with a late first or 2nd rounder. Good idea for if we move chandler this offseason. I didn't include sabonis as his stock seems to be rising rapidly. Your thoughts?

Re: College Basketball: 2015-2016
Zhou Qi is an interesting one. Earlier in the year some had him as high as top ten. Now he seems to be at the very end of the draft. Probably earlyish 2nd round is where he may land. Suffering from Yao Ming comparison hype early on I guess. Looks like a fairly run of the mill C with an improving jump shot. Thin frame, but already looks toned so I worry about his ability to fill out.

Interesting. I don't really have a read on him as a prospect. I've seen youtube videos of him as a 14 year old but that's about it. Thoughts?

Just saw on NBADraft.net that Sabonis is now ranked 5th on their big board. Holy crap.
Re: College Basketball: 2015-2016
Sabonis is a stud. I wouldn't even mind drafting him with the #3-4 pick, though people will say I'm crazy. If he were there at the WAS pick I'd take him there, but he will be long gone by then.

I exaggerate - I just don't think he's top 10 material, but maybe he's mr fundamental and I'm horrendously wrong. Wonderful things these proof-free opinions.
