2nd round playoffs thread
2nd round playoffs thread
Since some second-round series are starting up this weekend, I thought I'd make a thread to discuss the West/Eastern semifinal series.
Spurs vs Thunder today. Who you got for the game? For the series? I really like the Spurs. The Thunder are just not trained to be a successful playoff team IMO; too dependent on two chucking stars. Go Spurs.

I like the Spurs on five. This year I have little remorse to root for them in a series, we are far, far away from them.

Re: 2nd round playoffs thread
Spurs looking dominant here in the 1st quarter. Up 15-6 so far.
Re: 2nd round playoffs thread
Make that 17-6, and the Thunder call timeout. Nasty.
Re: 2nd round playoffs thread
Oh, btw I think the Spurs win but it takes 7 games, they close it out at home with a blowout. Other prophesies: there will be at least 1 suspension from OKC in the series, no one on the Spurs says anything about Cameron Payne and Westbrook's stupid pre-game dance, Leonard holds Durant under 40% shooting in 4 of the 7 games unless he has to switch off on Russ too much and let Green take Durant (basically I'm no sure what the Spurs are going to do defensively yet), OKC scores under 100 in 3 of the games.

Now 30-10. Absolute destruction.
Re: 2nd round playoffs thread
43-20. Most points by a team in a quarter in playoff history? Is that what Marv said?

It was a franchise record, not an NBA record.
What's the record for most times fouling on a three?

Think Aldridge is glad he didn't sign here?

Oh, for sure.Cap wrote:Think Aldridge is glad he didn't sign here?
Also, I think Danny guarded KD the first half. If Leonard is on Russ all series then maybe it won't be Spurs in 7. I thought it would be the other way around. Didn't think Green had the chops to guard KD.

I loved that game. The real team smacks down the two-man selfish ballhog team that thinks it can rely on chucking stars to win.

Spurs have the smartest group of frontcourt players in league, easily -- Duncan, Diaw, Aldridge, Leonard, West.
Thunder have some capable frontcourt players, but they've most been reduced to bellhops in a two-man offense.

Well, so much for hopes and dreams ...

There've been many big time scoring duos in the league, but when was it the last time two guys so potent had to share the ball at the perimeter? Melo and Iverson? Nuggets again with Kiki and English. I guess LeBron and Wade. When in history has this been a success? One of them not being a big man makes things way harder. I suppose they won't, but I wonder if OKC wouldn't be better off trading Westbrook for a beta sidekick to Durant and real depth. Chicago could offer Butler and pieces, Boston with IT4+, maybe Griffin in a megatrade with Paul as well. Cousins alongside KD would be scary...

They work because literally everyone on that team is willing to take a backseat for the betterment of everyone else. GSW are special in the attitude and make-up department. OKC has guys like Ibaka and Kanter who want their shots, Waiters is a chucking machine as well.Wally_West wrote:Klay Thompson and Steph Curry?Ring_Wanted wrote:There've been many big time scoring duos in the league, but when was it the last time two guys so potent had to share the ball at the perimeter?
