NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Isn't 4 a huge reach though (for Sabonis) if we're going BPA? (Maybe not, you tell me. I'm not a college connoisseur.)
Synchronicity and all that jazz, man.

Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I find Sabonis to be overrated. His athleticism and wingspan are worse than Kevin Love while having no where near the outside shooting ability or rebounding that Love had.
Charlotte should take Sabonis so they can add him to their tier of Zeller, Kaminsky, Hansbrough and Hawes.

Does it matter either way? If you like the guy at 13, but don't think he will be there, why not take him at 4? (I admittedly know nothing [John Snow] about NCAA basketball, but the logic bothers me to say "don't pick him that high" when you don't like anyone more.)Superbone wrote:Isn't 4 a huge reach though (for Sabonis) if we're going BPA? Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
The logic to me is about value. Trade down and pick up another asset. I realize that is sort of more how things work int he NFL and not so much the NBA, but still...Indy wrote:

Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Sabonis has a very good shot at being there at 13.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Lets assume the top 5 for now is Simmons, Ingram, Bender, Murray, Hield.Shabazz wrote:Sabonis has a very good shot at being there at 13.
The next 7 in some order will likely be Chriss, Ellenson, Davis, Dunn, Poetl, Brown, and Valentine.
That leaves us a shot at Sabonis, Skal and Luwau.

Ok, but in this draft, how much is #4 worth compared to 10?carey wrote:The logic to me is about value. Trade down and pick up another asset. I realize that is sort of more how things work int he NFL and not so much the NBA, but still...Indy wrote:

Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Depends on whether or not Bender is there and how much you value him. Could be massive for some teams.Indy wrote:Ok, but in this draft, how much is #4 worth compared to 10?carey wrote:The logic to me is about value. Trade down and pick up another asset. Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
The most recent workout:
Providence PF Ben Bentil: undersized stretched 4 who could be a 2nd round option. Plays with Kriss Dunn. Hell we may draft them both.
•Weber State F Joel Bolomboy: He sure can dunk, not sure what else
•Indiana G Yogi Ferrell
•Connecticut G Daniel Hamilton
•Wisconsin F Nigel Hayes
•Oregon State G Gary Payton II: I know several here are fans of him as a 2nd rounder. Looks intriguing
Anyone have any other thoughts or insights into these guys?
Would love to have multiple 2nd rounder's this year. To take a flyer on 1 or 2 and draft and stash a few bigs. I look forward to our summer league team and if we get anyone interesting for our northern Arizona suns. Knight can always start on the team if he wants and demonstrate to all what not to do at nba level. Sounds like that would help everyones development

Is he any good? I just watched a couple of sizzle reels on Youtube but it's hard to take much from those.•Oregon State G Gary Payton II: I know several here are fans of him as a 2nd rounder. Looks intriguing
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I'd take Yogi if only for his name.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Mmh, i wouldn't mind having a Zeller or Kaminsky type player. The name "Sabonis" is very enticing for me. That would be a nice pick at 13.UglyTruth wrote:I find Sabonis to be overrated. Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I feel like Sabonis may be gone at #13. Wish we had more like #8-9 to make it more certain.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Mori he looks like he has some great tools in terms of speed, build and athletic ability. Should be an instant contributor on defence. Like the other younger payton his offense will take some time. He hasn't been playing pg for that long, so there is still some development to go there. Could he slot into the Ronnie price role. I say yes.INFORMER wrote:He is.Marty [Mori Chu] wrote:Is he any good?•Oregon State G Gary Payton II: I know several here are fans of him as a 2nd rounder. Looks intriguing

Todays workout:
China PF/C Zhou Qi: Main concerns seem to be whether he will fill out/bulk up. Seems to have decent fundamentals, longest standing reach since Gobert at the combine. projects somewhere in the late 1st, early 2nd round. Certainly worth a 2nd rounder even as a draft and stash player. Could be drafted purely for marketing purposes. Maybe boston will trade multiple 2nd rounders for our 28th pick since they already have so many 2nd rounders.
