NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Coro's first mock has Boston taking Jamal Murray and the Suns taking Dragan Bender.

I think Jamal Murray's going to be a very nice player.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I think he's decent prospect, but I don't think he's going to be anything special. He'll be a good 3-point shooter and scorer, but I don't see him being that valuable, in other words, not a guy that's a must-have.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Good to see you back around, INF. Are you going to add a draft-related sig soon?
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
This mock draft has us selecting Brown & Luwawu. I like Luwawu a lot. Brown, not so much. With Warren and Tucker on the team we are still going to select 2 SFs? With holes the size of the Grand Canyon at PF? Do they even think about team fits when they do these things or do they just rank them in order of BPA?

I think it goes one of two ways right now.
1) If Bender slides we go Bender / Luwawu (Valentine)
2) If Bender goes 3rd we go Murray / Skal

Could Brown have same sort of defensive impact potential that Winslow has shown? Neither have a developed offensive game, Brown is a better run/jump athlete.
Love, Hurts.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
Maybe, but from what I read he was a pretty average defender at Cal. All the stuff about him having the potential to be a good defender is based on his athleticism and his measurements.TheOriginalOriginal wrote:Could Brown have same sort of defensive impact potential that Winslow has shown? Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I wonder if brown is better suited as a 4 in the NBA. He's got size and athleticism, but his perimeter skills are lacking. Regardless, I'd avoid drafting him.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I'm not sure Brown can play the 4.
What's everyone think about Malcolm Brogdon? He's already 23 and likely won't get too much better but as a 3 & D prospect he's interesting. He will definitely be there at 28 and likely will be there at 34 too. I've read that he can defend the 1-3 which is something we need. It's been a while since we've had a versatile defender.

Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I think you'll see a lot of trades this draft ala the Bennett draft. Still a Month out.
“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I read somewhere that Brogdon already has all the qualities the Spurs prefer: defense, team player, IQ, hardworking etc. If he's available at #28 I say let's get him. A high IQ player would be nice to see, for a change.

Hopefully you are right. I wan to move Knight and draft Dunn if he is truly BPA (with an eye on trading Bledsoe if his value is restored). Starting over with a Dunn-Booker backcourt wouldn't be the worst.Sunsfan4life wrote:I think you'll see a lot of trades this draft ala the Bennett draft. Still a Month out.

It would be better than what we currently have, and basically free compared to that 140M committed to two guys that shouldn't be PGs.Ring_Wanted wrote:Hopefully you are right. Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
There was a nice article in the paper today on Ellenson. He seems to have a lot of skills that could come in handy. It also appears that he is not in that great of shape, highest body fat count at combine. The biggest concern appears to be his ability to defend due to quickness issues. I wonder if that could be improved via work with our training staff?
He appears to rebound well, shoot well and is a willing passer. He thinks of team first. Any comments on him one way or another?
It really appears that we have many choices. They all appear to have potential for either stardom or bust. McDonough has some big decisions this summer.
I do not have a clue what we should do and will listen to you guys discuss this draft with an open mind.

What was the reason to get rid of Monty again? Oh yeah, that guy we drafted rather than Doncic.
Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I'm starting to like Juancho Hernangomez for us at 28 (if he's there). Reminds me a little of Casspi.
Re: RE: Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
He's been my pick at 28 but I'm leaning towards the length of Diallo as a defender.Shabazz wrote:I'm starting to like Juancho Hernangomez for us at 28 (if he's there). Reminds me a little of Casspi.

Re: NBA Draft Prospects Discussion
I just want the mindset that we aren't drafting based on "position". As others have stated the suns are not close to contending so no need to not draft BPA. If they think it's Dunn or Murray or whoever then get him. Don't not do it based on the current roster. Especially if it is in favor of guys that will be a bit older when it is time to compete.

Do the teams think about that when drafting?carey wrote:This mock draft has us selecting Brown & Luwawu. I like Luwawu a lot. Brown, not so much.
