To be honest, I don't like Chriss mostly because his game reminds me of Markief Morris. He seems to go to the same spots, etc. Add to that, I still hold a grudge against Amare for not being a better rebounder, and I'm scared off of Chriss. I love the highlights a lot more than I like Bender's highlights, but I just feel like Bender has a better chance to put it all together as a pro.

Dude, I'm in L.A., D'Angelo Russell ain't all that.
I'm also in LA and I think he's definitely a better prospect than Marquese Chris.
Agreed.

I would love to package Brandon Knight/#4 pick for Victor Oladipo/Ersan Ilyasova/2nd rounder.

If that's not possible, I'd probably keep the pick and draft Hield, Sabonis, or Skal.

I like Dipo but I dont think thats a very good deal, Knight's value couldnt possibly be that low.

You might get your wish. Chad Ford said on AZ radio today that he thinks the Suns are trying to trade out of the draft. I would do that deal. That actually sounds like the kind of deal they're looking for from what I've read. I just couldn't think of the young player they might be gunning for. He fits the bill.

How does this help us toward the long-term goal of building a championship contender?

Buddy Hield, if they keep the pick.

Road to making the Suns a contender:

Step 1: Trade Brandon Knight

It certainly seems like we'd be giving up the two best assets in that trade. Even if you think Oladipo is currently better than Knight it isn't by much so why would we give up #4 to swap them?

#4 and Knight for Butler. I think I would do this. Butler's injury last yr is concerning, but Jimmy Butler is only 26 and immediately becomes the leader of the team and a mentor to Booker and T.J.

Plus we've all talked about #4 is more risky this yr then in pas drafts.

Although if Chicago wants Dunn they're prob not interested in Knight. Might take a package of picks plus another player.

The best possible thing that could happen is the Celtics are set on taking Bender or Murray and a bidding war breaks out between the Bulls and Sixers for #4. Apparently both want Kris Dunn bad.

I like Butler a lot, but I don't think I would give up much more than the #4 and Knight, just in light of injury concerns. Maybe if they threw in Gibson, we could work something more out. Plus, I'm convinced Booker is going to be a star, and what do you do with Booker, Butler, and Bledsoe? Bledsoe off the bench? I just can't see that working out well. Would Butler or Booker run the point? It's definitely a lot to think about. But I would definitely pull the trigger on #4 and Knight for Butler.

Not sure I'd want Butler and Booker on the same team. I really like Butler, but afraid he'd stunt Booker. It's like McD has no sense how to build a balanced team.

Getting rid of Knight helps in that long-term goal, but overall I'm not a fan of this trade at all.

You would play Butler and Booker at the 2 & 3. This would be step one in a series of changes.

I don't love it though. For some reason I thought Butler was closer to 6-5. Even at 6-7, I like him more as a SG and he's played there most of his career.

Shel, I agree with you. As much as I respect Butler, we do have a very good sg on this team already, and he misses 15-20 games a year. Also, I'm not sure I want to trade away my gamble in the draft on a guy who may not be a good fit.

That said...

I bet McD is already planning to play Booker at Small Forward. There have been hints of that in the media - reports about his growth, etc.

I agree with you Shel, I see him more as a SG too. What do the Suns do with TJ and Tucker? Do you somehow play Bledsoe, Butler, Booker, and Tucker together?
