Thanks, INF. Do you know if he worked out here?INFORMER wrote:I wouldn't hold my breath.Superbone wrote:Who?INFORMER wrote:I'd probably go Cheick Diallo here.
No, seriously, I haven't heard of him. What do you put the odds at that you and McDonough are on the same page on this one?
Diallo is a super raw freshman from Kansas. Essentially didn't play at Kansas. Whispers he had problems learning the playbook.
Great motor, tremendous athleticism, incredible wingspan, showed well in the games at the NBA combine.
Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?

Strange. The NBA TV mock draft had us picking Furkan Korkmaz here. A guy I haven't heard anything about. Apparently he's a shooting guard from the Turkish league. They did have us taking INF's guy, Petr Cornelie with our 28th pick.

Furkan Korkmaz is a great name if nothing else. I'm quietly optimistic someone unexpected will fall to us at 13.
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
Sabonis, Korkmaz or Brice Johnson. I will be satisfied if we pick one of them, but Sabas is my favorite here.

At 28 i would go with Brice Johnson if he fall, Hernangomez or Ullis, but it depends what we're planning to do with Bledsoe and Knight. I think we should trade them both and go with Ullis at 28 or 34. He's the best pure pg in the draft.

I like Murray at 13 and have for a while now. I'm cooling on Sabonis ("final answer"... I won't even believe myself any more).
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I don't think Sabonis will be available at #13. I want him to be a Sun really bad. I just think he'll be a productive NBA player and the kind of player I will like and want to root for. Smart, savvy, skilled. Great passer. Skilled shooter and scorer. I'm going to be sad when the Kings or some other trash team takes him.

Used to think Sabonis was going to be there at 13 but I don't think he gets past the Hawks at 12

Ellenson is slipping in the mocks, and that saddens me. I want the competition to take that guy and leave us Sabonis.

Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I know I'm late to the game, but I was hoping we kept our 13th and picked up a guy like Baldwin or Murray or Valentine with that pick. Definitely didn't want a guard at 4, in which case we lose all leverage which is completely unpleasant given the Goran and Markieff situations we've had to deal with over the past 2 years, but to have a long and athletic pg who could contribute on the defensive end who we can groom slowly as a third guard in a healthy rotation would have been awesome.
And I've always liked Valentine.
Ah well.
Incidentally, I read some RealGM threads from Chicago fans, and they really like Knight over there. Their fans were talking about sending us McDermott + a first rounder or another asset to get Knight.

Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I'm not high on Brice Johnson and am glad that we didn't pick him up. He is very ineffective against bigger competition and the NBA is full of those. Maybe he can develop a long range game and become a stretch 4 but he's too much of a tweener for my taste. I felt like the Clippers should've taken a wing.
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I was thinking about a PG going to Chicago, especially after reading Taj Gibson is available. So Taj for Knight? I'd even see about Dunleavy tho I know the Bulls org is high on him (will make a great future coach too).
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I honestly think fans for most teams tend to overly focus on their players' value... be it positive or negative, and we might have gotten to that point with Knight. That is not to say that Chicago fans' interest in Knight reflects what their front office is thinking, but I'd say that Knight still has value as a capable, albeit streaky, scorer. He's a younger version of Jamal Crawford and if he can be a net plus in the chemistry department, I can see any number of contending teams wanting a guy like that off their bench. Which is where the chemistry issue comes in. But anyway, here's hoping that after the initial free agency contracts get handed out, Knight's ~20/5 production at 14 mil will seem like a real bargain, and we can move him for a pick or two a couple of years down the line. Taj is nice, but I think we can get more for Knight.
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I get wanting value, but sometimes you need to cut your losses. Addition by subtraction. Look at last year with M*****f. We should have dumped him outright and moved on, but instead held firm and got a 1st while losing an entire season and a coaching staff because of it. Some may not see it that way, and while I don't think the Knight situation is remotely close to the previous one, we'd be best to move him and free up the SG spot for Booker. It's better in the short and long term for us, regardless of Knight's "value". Plus we add a veteran PF with playoff experience who (hopefully with Tyson) can bring along our young bigs.
And that's not even mentioning that Knight has never said anything about wanting to or being ok with, playing off the bench.

Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
Of course. I'm not advocating that we hang onto him until we get the king's ransom. I'm just stating that we may be deflating his value excessively as fans right now. I absolutely want Knight off this team before the season begins.
Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
I want to keep Knight. I think he could be phenomenal off the bench. My only question is whether he'll accept that role.

I hope we trade him. He's a perennial Shaqtin a Fool star and that's not going to change. Garaunteed 2 fouls a game against the bigs when he starts the pick and roll before the big guy has his feet set. CHI, PHI, BRK, HOU, SAC, and others all need PGs pretty badly. I hope he goes somewhere before the season starts.

Re: Poll: Who should the Suns take at #13?
My ideal scenario would be to send him to Philly and get that unprotected Laker pick back. Straight up.
Brooklyn has nothing to trade, unfortunately. The other destinations would be interesting, but what would be returning package? Honestly I still think Milwaukee needs a guy like Knight and with all the length they have they can protect him better than any other team on defense, with Utah being a close second in that regard (though they already got Hill so they are off that list).
