Face it guys, its the New NBA. 20mi is the new 10mil. The MLE is going to be only 5mil less then what everyone was bitchin about Bledsoe making.
The deals are awful compared to what they us to be, but its the new NBA...get use to it. I'm happy Phoenix won't be participents this yr, because the FA class is unimpressive to say the least.

“Kobe had said (after the play) I wasn’t hugged enough as a child,” Bell recalled. “My mom kind of found him after the instance and we had beat them and offered him a hug in the bowels of the Phoenix arena. She really feels a part of that story.”

Mavs closing in on Whiteside, also making play for Conley. I'm a big fan of Conley. He's 28 with some injury issues, so he is more appealing to a team contending, but be interested to see where he'll go. Dragic got 20mil per and he's 2yrs older.
Whiteside is going to get maxed out for 1.5yrs of production...Guess he mavs finally going to get there center afterall.

Dragic didn't get 20/yr. His salary the next 4 years is 16M, 17M, 18M, 19M. I think it was 5/85.Sunsfan4life wrote:Mavs closing in on Whiteside, also making play for Conley. I'm a big fan of Conley. Yea you're right its not per. But his contract escalates so it caps out at over 19mil per when he's 33. It was still gross at the time, although with the money being thrown around now..

Old landscape. New landscape. That Mozgov contract is ATROCIOUS.
Re: NBA News: Offseason
Mozgov can't even be traded without his approval. It is so amusing watching the Laker fans melt down over this. Good stuff.
Hibbert apparently had the 2nd worst rpm of any center. The only player that was worse was Mozgov.

Re: NBA News: Offseason
By the way, I am loving how the Heat seem to be imploding. Looking like they are losing Hassan Whiteside, having a falling out with Chris Bosh, and being stuck in a die-if-you-do and die-if-you-don't situation with an aging Dwayne Wade. If they lose these players, they can't replace the quality at the same salary given how everyone has cap space and is dishing out crazy money.
Call me a homer but Dragic might end up being the only decent player left on the team. He might prevent the Heat from bottoming out, but the Suns may very well end up with two mid-lotto picks on the trade.
Edit -- well, I don't like the health issues that Bosh is facing, hope that he ends up making his way back and the Heat still suck.

Re: NBA News: Offseason
I've said it before...any team maxing out Whiteside is going to regret it IMO. I know a lot of teams are throwing money around but he just strikes me as a contract year player. I think injuries and work ethic will cause the Mavs a huge headache in like a year or two.
Knicks are also going after Gordon, who I like more than Lee for that team on paper. Injuries will always be the concern there but the Knicks have liked Gordon for a long time. On paper, Rose, Gordon, Melo, KP and Noah can contend in the East if healthy. If healthy....

Re: NBA News: Offseason
Whiteside actually staying in Miami. Chandler Parsons was offered a max deal from Portland which is very risky given his knees but I like the fit a lot on paper. If the Mavs don't get Conley or a center, I wonder if we could swing some combo of Knight/PJ/Chandler.
Re: NBA News: Offseason
Where did you see Whiteside is staying? Woj reported that Mavs are still very much in the mix. Parsons getting a 4-year max is a bad idea. I'm kind of surprised Olshey would go that route. I assume they are going to let Crabbe go?ShelC wrote:Whiteside actually staying in Miami. I no longer think we should move Knight/PJ/Chandler. At least, not right now. If we move them I would hope they're traded for players that fit our team better and are also under contract already. I'd like to retain our flexibility if possible.

Miami had no choice. Batum and parson deals whiteside look like a bargainShelC wrote:I've said it before...any team maxing out Whiteside is going to regret it IMO. Very interesting. I can certainly see Cuban being interested in this. This is the 2nd consecutive yr the Mavs have been left with egg on their face with reports saying they were heavy favorite for a player and then losing him. They have a glaring whole at point as well. Now what do they have that'd we'd want for a BK/Chandler combo?

Demar Derozen just got a Max contract starting at Infinity from Toronto. Always thought Derozen was overrated and although I understand the Raps have a hard time keeping guys in Toronto, it's hard to fathom Derozen right now being the 2nd highest paid player in the NBA.

Re: NBA News: Offseason
Clarkson got 4/50 from the Lakers which actually seems alright considering the other deals being handed out.
Batum 5/120 from Charlotte.
Lin is about to sign with Brooklyn.
LeBatard is reporting that the Heat are considering dealing Dragic in order to sign Durant since Whiteside is signed and Wade is owed a big payday.
